Well, I purchased a 2019 Ram classic in December. Was over the moon to have my first brand new vehicle. A few little problems within the first week of ownership. Bed light not working, heavy condensation in a headlight. have an appointment tomorrow to get a speaker replaced lol. I'm also getting a totally free "piece of mind inspection". Aaaaanyways, today my low fuel light came on(running it down to fill up before a roadtrip this weekend to more easily judge the mileage) at a 1/4 tank. Is this normal? According to the info screen I have 80km(50 miles) to go on the fuel I have left. I love my truck. I just wish these little problems would stop. Thanks for any info guys.

The low fuel light in most vehicles is based on accumulated and current fuel economy not the level in the tank. This proves useful when someone is towing a trailer and the fuel economy is around 10 mpg vs highway driving that could be closer to 20.

I know the previous Gen4 truck had fuel level/DTE issues

Every time my light has come on my 2018 two-door Sport, it takes twenty-three gallons to fill it. So, gallonwise, I have three left; or about fifty-four miles.

Cheers

So maybe I'm just paranoid because of the light issues. Mine says 80km (50 Miles). So this is relatively normal I guess? Will cold weather mess it up at all? My last vehicle was a Malibu so I am still adjusting lol. Thanks for all the replies!

Also that makes sense Judy lol

Totally normal. Cold weather has no effect on the number of gallons/liters left in the tank.

50 miles before the light goes on is not that much. You could be 45 miles from the nearest gas station. Try driving my 06 Magnum R/T. That stupid assed light doesn't come on until I have less than a gallon left. I ran out of gas once...ONCE, then I realized my light was useless.

2015 Ram Crew. 100K+ miles. 32 gallon tank. Typically get 19-20 MPG.

Low fuel light comes on 50-60 miles. Filling and topping off is usually 26-27 gallons. Would have guessed tank would need 27-29 gallons.

Makes me think tank capacity is greater than 32 gallons. Dunno.

I have the 26 gallon tank. When the truck was newer I got stuck in backed up traffic on the highway with my fuel low light on. I managed to get into a town and literally coasted to the pump.
Truck took more than 26 gallons to fill so you could very well be right that it actually holds more on your 32 than it says.

FWIW -

It's generally not a great idea to run it down too low. The fuel helps keep the fuel pump cool and healthy. Letting it get too much below 1/4 all the time can shorten fuel pump life. (On any car, not specific to our trucks.)

Typically my fuel light would come on when there was a range of approx 30 miles left. I recently swapped the 3.5 cluster with a 7" cluster and now it lights up at 50 miles.

They must have adjusted the warning threshold on the 19. I had a 2012 and always filled up at the 1/4 tank mark just out of good habit, but even when I occasionally approached an 1/8 I still never saw my light come on. Now I noticed it happens at/just under my 1/4 tank mark.
