When does your low fuel light come on?

I have the 26 gallon tank. When the truck was newer I got stuck in backed up traffic on the highway with my fuel low light on. I managed to get into a town and literally coasted to the pump.
Truck took more than 26 gallons to fill so you could very well be right that it actually holds more on your 32 than it says.

There are several threads on this forum about the gauge being inaccurate in the 32 gallon tanks. It’s the correct volume but the gauge says it has less than it really does. Basically it’s reading like it’s a 26 gallon tank or whatever the smaller one is.

Our 2014 Laramie would come on at 87 DTE. Our 2018 pops on at 50 DTE. Both 26 gal tanks. With my wife, that light comes on a lot.

In both my 2015 and my 2018 Big Horn with gas V6 engine, the low fuel light would come on at 50 miles to empty.

I drove until 0 was on my display while towing around 6k lbs. I kept going for another 80 miles and was only able to put in 28 gallons on my 32 gallon tank.

I have learned that I have no idea when my light turns on and how much I have remaining. They key is, when it comes on, I don't have to rush to fill up.

Mine comes on when it says 50 miles left. So far I have always filled up soon after that but usually only get 22-23 gallons on the fill up. Got 24 gallons yesterday after it said 28 miles left. I have the 26 gallon tank.

26 gallon tank here...light comes on when the dial just touches the final line...fill up is approx. 23 gallons.

The flaw with the fuel gauge is for those of us with the 32 gallon tank on the older models. I think they resolved the issue on the newer 4th gens. I have a 2015.

I NEVER saw the light come on in my 17 in 2.5 years and NEVER will let it light up in my 19 classic.....I hope..lol

Mine is terrible about saying low fuel with a 1/3 of a tank. The other day it only took 21 gallons to fill my 32 gallon tank after the low came on.

My truck usually comes on at 35 miles left, but if I keep my foot out of the pedal, it has gone all the way down to 8 miles left before the light comes on. Pretty weird, but normally when it get to 15 left after the light come on, it will not estimate my mile left.
