Hey guys I know there's a thread about this somewhere just can't find it. I have a 2014 Ram 1500 express and want to get factory LED tail lights, but I read somewhere that they will not work unless I mess around with the wires and trust me I don't want to do that. I've read a lot about the Recons and the Spyders, but I personally think the Recons are better hence the higher price...but on the Recons I need to purchase an adapter so they work properly and on the Spyders it's just plug and play. Man these are tough decisions, plus I would like to know which 3rd LED brake light is best and I want it smoked? I've seen some on Ebay, but they look really cheesy and I'm afraid they'll fill up with condensation after a few times through the car wash. So please help a brother out over here huh!!!

Kinda looks like you answered your own question:) I have Spyders and they fit well, look good and are really bright. I have not had any problems with them, but everyone has to choose for themselves...

Jeremy at the Retro Shop is going to be bringing in TYC OEM replicas soon,
and will be making a plug and play adapter with resistors and factory connectors,
same thing he did for the new 13+ Projector heads I recently upgraded to on my old 10'.

I hope he gets on the adapter production soon,
I'm picking these up on the way home for $250
Brand new 14' OEM take-offs (owner went with aftermarket)

Did you get the red, smoked, or smoked red tail lights? Did you have to change the reverse light bulb to LED or it comes with an LED reverse light bulb?

The factory LED tail lights really look great at night, but I want to get the smoked one's because they'll look really nice on my white Ram....I really like the Recons, you think Jeremy will soon eventually have the adapters for the Recons? Did you do anything as to changing your third brake light?

Well the LED's had a few scuff marks on them when I went to check them out in person.

So I low balled him a $200 offer and he snapped it up without question, (original asking price was $300)
I wasn't really all that concerned because I'm having them tinted, wet sand, cleared and polished.

My bud Brad (MGRAM)
already did his wife's 14' Sport tails (3 coats)
so dropped the new tails off at his garage just minutes after I bought the new LED tails

I'll probably stop at 2 coats on mine.

I used to run GTS covers and they were a little too dark

My 4.5 y/o 10' is looking more like a new 14' now with heads/tails and wheels :D

The aftermarket tails still use the stock reverse bulb.

I got the red, they do not come with reverse leds. I got these from retro-solutions "921-CREE-SIDE-2X T15 CREE Reverse (Side Emitter)" very bright...

Wet Sanded 3000 grit then polished smooth
got rid of all the scuff marks and knocked down the sharp ridges around the perimeter

First light coat of VHT

One more coat looked just right

Three Layers of SprayMax 2K professional clear coat

They'll cure for another week before final wet sand and polish,
Harness/Adapters on the way soon.

**Be Careful when purchasing used OEM LED take offs!**

Some new truck owners that have Rams with factory LED tails
are removing them in favor of Recons (come in red/smoke/chrome)

BUT they are required to transfer the rear wire harness over from the OEM Lamps.

The ones I got were useless to me because of this,
The harness part of the light does not appear to have its own Mopar part number you can get from your dealer.

The parts you NEED:

2014-10-26113828_zps35bd03e8.jpg

The lights as I bought them : no harness, no connectors, no reverse light socket....useless

I was very lucky that a Forum Brother had a spare set to send me,
all he wanted was for me to cover the shipping. :favorites13:

Thanks for the heads up, but I went with the smoked Recons and should have them later this week. I also got the Recon smoked 3rd brake light and I think will look awesome together.

So when can I buy these? That's the next light upgrade I want.

Yes Jeremy's harness/adapter will allow any 4G Ram to plug and play new 13+ OEM or TYC LED tail lights

Jeremy has not released the TYC lights or adapters for sale just yet,
He's only mocked up his first set of prototypes on his own truck
...Way to take one for the Team JJ!

His prototype is now off to his "guy" to mass produce the adapters
So it could be a couple weeks wait yet, not sure.

There's a thread on the RetroShop section in the Vendors area for updates
