Just bought a 2016 ram and I love it. My dad owned won and I loved it too. But ever since I bought it 3 days ago all the guys at work have been giving me **** about it. Why do people have such a negative opinion of them?
All that matters is if you like it. Who cares what they think! It ain't theirs and they're not driving it or making the payments. If you go through life worrying about what others think, your gonna get ulcers.

Oh pee on them. I hear crap about my Ram, '74 Duster and my '67 Hemi Convert from the Ford and Chevy people. I quit going to car shows. My friend has an old Ford F250 and we laugh at each other about our old trucks breaking down and we just fix'em and tell people we have NO payments !

I hate Chrysler. They were so "evil" in the 80's and 90's with the crap they popped out, so it tainted my view of Dodge period. (unless you talk pre 80)

I bought a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 SLT about 7-8 years back, though, because it was a good deal and haven't looked back. The fuel economy sucks but the functionality is great. They have a serious problem with the heater doors and the driver seat construction (simple fix at factory that they, in typical Chrysler fashion, chose to ignore) sucks with how they left a jagged piece of metal to chew away the foam.

However... I now have a 2011 Sierra 2500HD with a 6.0l that I picked up for really cheap to tow a trailer (bought it off a family member) and sadly will be selling the 2004 Ram. It's in better condition than most 2010-2012 Rams, but I can't keep 2 trucks. Eventually I will be going to a 3500 Ram to pull my 27' trailer, but the 1500 with a 3.55 diff can't pull it properly.

So... brand shame is old school and really shouldn't be played any more. It's all about functionality and personal preference. Just learn the faults and maintain the vehicle and you will almost always be happy.

My 2 cents.

you know there’s a Chevy forum for you. Hoping you have fun there. See ya.

A former co-worker of mine at one time said that Rams are expensive lawn ornaments. Funny thing is that his 2014 Ford Expedition engine just started knocking. Remind me again, who's got the expensive lawn ornament?

Damn, that boy was not playing. I'd be pissed if I got dragged all over the parking lot like that. A few feet, ok you got me. That was straight up ****** up.

My thoughts exactly! Looks like he drug him off parking lot, down a ditch, then back into the parking lot.

have a 03 ford 7.3L SD with 186K event free miles thus far.

Drove a 1995 chev G-20 van with 302 v-8 till it had 275K miles, drove a chev astro 3.8 v-6 cargo till 250K. Currently have a ford 2000 e-250 with 108K and it has been totally reliable truck. THey all are good and bad depending on the year and issues on that model.

I will be looking at ram 2500 diesel in 2 yrs when we come back to sell house after full timing RV during that time. WHY... the fords engines the diesel are good but not a cummins, some with the duramax.

Only issue i see is with the diesel is to get the asian? transmission vs the 68R it think on the regular bed and the asian on the long bed only.. (not sure why ram does not just go asian on all all 2500 3500 HD short or long bed.

also looking to go 4x4 but wondering about not having unlockable front hubs like on the ford 250's . worth it not worth it??

I switched to Dodge after almost five decades of being a GM buyer. The salesman I talked to about a new GM 2500 was not interested in accommodating my reasonable suggestion so I walked out on the fool. Dodge accommodated the next day and here I sit in Denver in the new 2008 2500 Dodge hemi six speed standard with 312,000 km on it. This engine is far superior in terms of power than anything the competition has come up with. The garage and sales auto sales owner I have patronized for over three decades told me that the hemi can blow the doors off similar engines in its class made by the competition.

If the salesman had not been a dweeb I would still be driving GM as they gave me good service for decades. Now my son has come over and bought a Dodge diesel regular cab work truck.

I drive a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500. 318k original miles. Still love my truck!
My boss took a day off a while back to buy a new truck... went off saying he was buying a Tundra and came back the next day with a brand new RAM!

Quick question, is anyone experiencing clicking sound when putting the truck in 4WD, and not when the truck is at a stop, but when in motion.

FYI. You might wanna move this question to the proper section
Transmission and transfer case section.

No problem.
No worries.
Might also wanna stop by the introduction section too...
And you can also start your own thread with your questions.
We all understand the new kids on the block. No pun intended.
