The honey comb looked like it was held on with panels clips (which usually **** me off)

JJ do you think I know you recomended that stuff before but the shelf life had me a bit hesitant
Do you think it would be worth using the duplicolor clear for now till I have the few spots I want to touch up then hit it all with the good clear coat?
I just don't want to spend $20 for a can of clear coat to only use on a grill that I paid $15 for ya know haha

I've use a LOT of clear..........back when I painted.......lol

If you want it to look good from 10ft away, use the duplicolor stuff. If you want it to look great up close, 2K all the way. Yeah, its an activated clear, so pot life is only 24 hours........but damnit, its the ****!

Well you talked me into it, turns out the local parts store carries that clear so I splurged for a can while I was picking up primer
I go a few light coats of etching primer on

An a few more coats of sand able primer

I finished wet sanding the primer and was hosing it off, grabbed it the wrong way and took a good bit of the primer off so I'll be sanding and priming again tomorow , probably let the paint cure a little longer before touching/sanding instead of reading the directions

I recommend Spraymax 2K clear. Its the ****!

I've never used SprayMax, but I will say Duplicolor rattle can clear sucks!

I'm assuming you scuffed the hell out of the chrome first...?

I did, close to 4 hours of sanding
I used a palm sander, another power sander, a red scuff pad wheel on a drill and by hand, I'm not sure what grit I used on the palm sander but it was heavier ten 120
Hard to get a picture of it scuffed but heres a comparison

Better now then later I guess

So far the spraymax can confuses the **** out of me lol
There's writing all over it and most of it is in different languages haha
Best part is they just have pictures for directions

when you are ready to use it, shake it for 2 minutes, push the plunger in the bottom, shake again for 2 minutes, then use it. You've got 24 hours. :D

Yup that's what I got out of it, I had to look at it a time or two or four lol

How long should I wait between coats? Most of my trouble painting is patience, if the can says to wait for so long I set a timer on my phone lol

flash times vary. Its been a LONG time since I painted (I hired a painter, best move EVER) - but I think the flash on it was 10 minutes, in room temp, low humidity.

if its like the 2ndgen dodge badge it's just on there with glue and best way to get it off is prob a heat gun and prying.

good luck man

The one on my factory grille was siliconed on... Which pissed me off, was gonna put the logo on my billet grill but the silicone took off the chrome on the badge...

I'm not really sure how it was held on but it popped off easily lol
Just going to epoxy it back into the pin holes if I can get the paint to stick lol

Havent had time to really work on the grille anymore and the weather hasn't really been the best for painting anyway

I've been having problems with her LED taillights though
Her passenger side brake light dimmed out so it's barely noticeable (although it hasn't triggered a lamp out light on the dash) and just recently her drivers side turn signal stopped working
It would work on and off as you hit bumps and had pretty much stopped working (did throw the lamp out light which got very annoying to watch flicker bump after bump plus the quick pulse of the turn signal)

I took the harness off and switched them, te turn signals work fine now but the passenger side taillight doesn't work at all. There was corrosion inside of the plugs from our wonderful PA weather an I'm hoping dieelectirc grease will fix the problem

Do you guys have any other ideas to check out?
I'm really hoping it isn't something inside of the light(lose wire/bad connection) as the LED and boards are sealed inside of the light

lol, just asked on a different thread what you were looking for. :D

I have a local auto paint store that carries all of the SprayMax line. I used to use it when I painted. It runs about 20 bucks a can. But, its GREAT stuff.

I have seen it online as well, from Amazon and a few others.

But, best bet - look for a Auto paint store. The box stores will not carry this type of stuff.

I've gone a different direction on the paint
3FF3-46C5-903E-657A654A6423-12269-00000DCC0115811B.jpg
I took almost all I the primer back off and started over again
5994-4635-ACEB-0BC6D71A05C7-12269-00000DCC092CAD38.jpg
I've been spending a lot of time sanding and respraying and thought I was going to be able to finally get paint on today only to go outside to check on my last coat of primer and see it covered in ash from the fire my dad started...
I'm probably going to make a make shift paint both and paint it this weekend
