So I’ve had my truck for a couple of months now and average between 21-22 going to work and back during the week. I had to drive my truck to South Carolina, it’s about 550 miles one way.

I averaged 25.3 mpg through the hills of West Virginia! I hand jammed it and the computer was within .2 miles of my math. I love this truck. Capable, efficient and comfortable. I couldn’t ask for more.

Btw my truck is an 18 with the hemi and 3.21 gearing. Is anyone else seeing comparable numbers?

I have to agree - with the 3.92 ratio I have seen ~ 19-20 on long stretches of flat highway cruising at 55. However given that to get just about anywhere from Seattle requires going through a pass my freeway milage is more like 15-16.

You sure it's not showing L/100km lol. Those are great #'s. My commute is all steady cruise and I usually average mid 18s to low 19s in the summer.

Something seems impossible here. I don't think you'd see 25mpg on level ground in a freshly-waxed, 2 wheel drive Ram, going 50mph, with the exhaust and intake completely removed, with a tailwind.

I'm not saying you're lying, just that there has to be something more to this story or something else going on for a stock 5.7L to be getting 25mpg through WV.

I've had my 2015 5.7 Hemi 4x4 for just over two months. It's usually between 20.5-21.5 mpg every time I fill it up. I drive 400-500+ miles a week. On a trip from OH to NJ through the mountains of Pennsylvania it averaged 22.5 mpg. My last truck I bought new. It was a 2010 Silverado 4.3 V6. I was lucky if I hit 20mpg. These Hemi Rams are doing it right.

My 2013 CC Sport 5.7 with 3.21 averaged 20mpg per tank. My “new” 2017 has the same set up and is averaging the same. Mostly level terrain, 50 mile round trip for work. I fill up with mid-grade gas and am not heavy footed.

A couple summers ago did a mini road/camping trip from Portland, Oregon to central Montana for my son's boy scout summer camp. On the way home we took our time and did Going to Sun road through Glacier. I fueled up in Kalispel, MT, drove to Palouse Falls in eastern Washington where we camped for the night, then fueled up the next day in the Dalles. Calculated out to about 24mpg over that 540 miles. I have the receipt somewhere, would have to dig it up, but I know the computer showed almost 25 when we filled up. I remember thinking we could make it to the next town but opted not to risk it as fueling up in The Dalles would still get us all the way home.

That entire trip was about 2k miles and the rough calculation across the trip was over 20mpg and we didn't take it easy. We drove the entire way there in one day.

2014 crew cab, Hemi, 4x4, 8spd, 3.21's.

Have never gotten about 21 since but have also been running Hemifever 92 octane tune since with 180 degree thermostat. I see 19-20 often but not much better. Normal 50/50 driving generally calculates 17-19 depending how much traffic I see during that tank.

So you are saying the HF tune decreased your mpg? I feel the same way with my custom Hf 92 tune. I am returning my truck back to stock on this next trip towing to see if I can get a little better mpg. Will definitely put the tune back on for daily driving though. Truck drives so much better when tuned.

It's my assumption that most tunes are aimed at increasing performance. Performance is very likely to have an inverse relationship with fuel economy. That is, as performance is increased or improved, fuel economy is decreased or lessened.

I've gotten around 26 on highway stretchs for about 60 miles. That was at 55-60 mph and flat if not slightly downhill part of it. The rest of the trip was on the freeway going 80 and I ended up at 20 when I got home.

I had a 3 hr MTN highway drive each way last summer and got home at 23.5.

Also have 3.21s
