ADDED: OK, I have a MY 19 Bighorn, keyless start, no passive entry. Turn off truck, put fob on seat, lock close doors. Beep 3 and open. But on third try, vehicle stays locked.

Start truck, put key fob on seat, push lock button down on door, close door, door locks with truck running.

I’m not sure if passive entry would make a difference or not- really don’t know why it would in the first place but when you say you start the truck in your second paragraph and verify that the door stays locked after you manually lock it from the inside and close the door, is that when you started it with the ignition, or after you’ve remote started it? Only reason I ask that is because even though I’ve verified it with my truck while having passive entry, that if I put in and leave the key is inside the truck after it’s been remote started, and I accidentally push the interior lock button and close the door, I can lock myself out that way.

I haven’t tried it yet the other way, with the truck running and not remote started....

Nice thang, sure a tell all to someone that there was something there, LOL,

Yeah, it doesn’t really look like it would be all that hard to get into that… And it sticks out like a sore thumb too. At least with the secret compartment on the bottom of that locking gas cap, that’s out of sight and out of mind.

I've successfully locked the truck and left it with the spare in the centre console as well as in a travel bag in the back seat. Wonder if it's tied into a setting.

Or its based on whatever key it linked to to start it last. I've had as many as 3 fobs in there at once and I have no idea how it would decide which key to go off of since they are all for the same truck.

That wouldn’t make any sense but I guess it could be.

I think the key (no pun) is not that it won't let you lock the doors at all.

You can lock the doors with the switch in the truck and they will lock. But once you close the door the truck will beep, flash and unlock the doors if it senses the fob still in the truck.

I have never locked my keys inside from 2016 to my new 2019. It always honks at me that the key Fob is inside, however there was one day when I was loading up the boat and backed down to the water and shut truck off to get the boat onto trailer and I guess I hit lock. It didn’t honk, flash or nothing until I went to get back in. Wouldn’t let me in. It was locked. Checked every door and one of them wasn’t latched all the way. When I pushed on the door to latch it, it honked, unlocked. Thank goodness. Was worried because phone was inside too to use Uconnect which I love too. So I have to say it’s Impossible to lock keys inside.

Are we all going to ignore the fact that Tiny’s cat is some sort of ****** and scaled a vertical surface to take a spare fob off a key hook and then proceeded to slide it under a fridge? [emoji81]

Gunpackingsaint,

I had the same problem when I was parked in front of one of our manufacturing plants. Could not figure it out until one day I had to park about 15 parking spaces to the left of my normal parking space. Everything worked fine......WHY???? I noticed a square antennae at about roof level pointing at the space I usually parked in and found out it was the wireless receiver for one of our plant security systems. I found out that it also played havoc with any cell phone signals within two parking spaces either side of the receiver. None of my remote functions would work while parking there.

Parked in the exact same spot yesterday and again no go. Oddly enough it also happed at a second location, a hardware store on the same day.

Wish there was a way to improve the signal to avoid this nuisance.

And what if you refuse to use that useless, buggy app? Uconnect is the most worthless piece of crap I have ever seen in any vehicle.

2016 tradesman, keyed ignition with the fob, not push to start. Truck was running, gf accidentally locked doors via button, closed doors after loading groceries. Spent 2 hrs in Wal-Mart parking lot freezing my ass off before cops could come and use the wedge. Which reminds me I need to make a spare valet key.

I surely wish I had passive entry mumbo. I was about to take my spud wrench and bust the window out.

Your gf must have pushed the lock down manually as the doors won't power lock if the fob is in the ignition and a door is open, the truck doesn't have to be running or started.

Nope, the doors will power lock and stay locked with the truck running. I surely was not happy considering I found out by being locked out. Worst part is I don't have a spare fob and keep forgetting to make an extra door key. I'm gonna see if I can change the settings right now, but I don't think I can.

I must have a freak of a vehicle then, if the key is in the ignition, the power lock won't let me lock the doors if one of them is open. It's done this from day one, 100% OEM(no aftermarket alarm, remote start, etc) and long before AlfaOBD.

Maybe it's an option with higher trims? Mines yhe tradesman and doesnt have much. I went through all the prompts in the settings on the radio and there's nothing in there to change to keep from being locked out. Kinda bummed, as I've come close a few times recently to doin it again.
