So you return the vehicle to stock. Then load an HP tune. Tuners can lock their tunes all day so it keeps it proprietary. IE you and I cannot change it without the tuners password.

You got a link to this common knowledge?
I think you're missing the point of what these guys are saying.
Sounds like if you send a pcm to diablo to unlock, they are unlocking it but only somehow allowing them to be written with diablo tunes, hence why hpt can only read it

I am missing the point. Because it's not a point made. That's not how the process works but I'm done correcting the misinformed.

You cannot write a HP tune to a Diablo tuned PCM until you return the PCM to stock removing the Diablo flash. You can then flash HP tuners to it. The same works for SCT, HP tuners, Diablo (Holley) etc.

You copied the link to the HP forum i gave you,you should go correct those guys ,and tell them how it's done on an 18+ truck seeing as how you're so smart  :Big Laugh: 15 to 17 PCMS you can do that way,18+ PCMS not so much ,the OP has an 18
Olkutty there you go RedSRT4ME has it all figured out for your 18,he knows everything and says he'll be able to fix any issues you might have ,if swapping over to HP on your Diablo unlocked 2018 PCM doesn't work.

Why?? They aren't the ones saying to go get another PCM unlock because their ignorance has yet again got the best of them.

They aren't the ones saying it's common knowledge.

I do find it sad @DILLIGAF that you find the need to slander my responses with your meaningless posts, but your lack of useful words gives me an incite to your ignorance as well. Pity.

You didn't even read the link did you.Maybe go read the link, correct the couple of guys who said they had to get another unlock done on their 18+ PCM. So they know how to go about switching their Diablo 18+ unlocked PCM from Diablo to HP. BTW it's fairly common knowledge on the hi-po facebook pages,so you should go expound you're knowledge on Facebook too. Okay now i want you to prove HP's forum is wrong, lets see what you have to prove your claims ,besides what you claim,so back up your claim.

I did read the link. The OP was left hanging for a solution as none was given.

I'm still trying to understand how you thought this was common knowledge.

Couldn't copy paste from Facebook?

My claim was not to the other forum which I am not a member of. My claim is to correct the misunderstanding you are creating on this forum. Clearly an educated person can read these words and understand the intent.

It must be hell that your search engine is broken and cannot produce this common knowledge you shared.

Here try again. Link us to where the locked PCM saga exists.

   Still don't know how to unmarry a tune to use a different brand?? Your comprehension of what you're reading must go right out the window. Stick to what you know because clearly this isn't your element.

@Olkutty - Sorry to read about the bad experience. You say you had a local shop dyno and tune. Where are the dyno numbers? Lol. If I missed them scrolling quickly through 12 pages, my bad.

So, I'm not anywhere near as experienced as others on this forum as Wild One, Dilligaf and others, but I've customized the hell out of my truck including a supercharger, stroked and forged, and pretty much upgraded or swapped out every damn system besides the trans.

I have talked to Jay a few times, and while I personally like him because he's a crazy Texan, he's gone a bit off the deep end. I honestly think he's a victim of his own success, he didn't want to scale his operation and took on too much business. I've had tunes by Flyin Ryan, and Hemifever also. They're all decent, but are also very much tuning by grabbing what they have that's close in their library and sort of sending out a 'mass produced' tune with minor tweaks. Unfortunately, while you are still getting a really good tune, especially to protect your transmission, if you do a LOT of mods/customizations like I have, they never quite dial it in.

I switched to HP Tunes from Diablo, and used my Diablo unlocked PCM when I got the I3 on my 2018 and didn't have any problems. I *think* the HP tunes setup procedure backed up and factory reset the PCM when it started, but my memory of it is fuzzy since it took me a while to get HP tunes and the credits all loaded up correctly. I'm not sure if there's a time frame where they changed that, just stating how it worked for me. I read through various forums and found more folks saying it would work than not, so I tried it knowing that it risked bricking the expensive unlocked PCM. I got tired of the less granular tunes and not having more precise fuel maps, and there was a much broader tuner community out there for HP Tunes. I struggled for over six months to find someone who could dial in my tune at WOT! Flyin Ryan is good, but sloppy I think, and spent most of the time railing on me for not going with his cam. Hemifever is awesome, but I think more suited to a more generic customer. Jay I got tired of, and he was sick, and the turnaround time was really long...

I got really lucky and found a guy in St. Louis where I did a dyno/tune session, and it made all the difference in the world. So, just my input for those struggling to find a good tuner, it's tough but worth it in the end.

You hit the nail on the Head. E-mail tunes only do so much if your FBO. Once the 6.4L and 8 speed is in my truck and dialed in . I will take it to Player 3 and get it finalized on the dyno.

I do like how FRP uses the AFR gauge. Some tuner just wing it... lol...

Yeah, I actually bought a new setup so my MVP unit could take the Wideband input with FRP, much better than trying to do shaky vids doing runs.
