New to the forum but been reading the alfaobd thread for some time now and used it to learn how to make a few changes to my truck: added rearview camera, heated seats, and SRT splash screen.

But I'm not sure if I'm just missing it or I'm just more of a Noob than I thought, but HOW THE HECK DO I USE IT TO DIAGNOSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT??

I tried connecting to the Body Computer Module -- MY2013, and then clicking the little engine icon at the bottom of the screen -- selected "Read All Faults". It displayed:B170B, and B16E7, and when I clicked each of these it said: "Right Reverse Lamp Control..." and "License Plate Lamp Control..."

But what do I select to read and clear the CEL code???

Sorry for the noob question and thanks for all of the great info I've already used on here!

*Using the Android version, and have a 2013 V6 1500*

I had the B170B, Right under the tab for "read codes" was a tab for clearing codes. I pressed that and the code went away. I did not have a light on though, I had changed to "LED Licence Plate Lights" with the AlphaOBD, Dash light/warning went out and then I cleared the stored code. Don't know if that matters.

When you click on the fault it read what it was, so to clear them click on the following directly below.

They will not go away or clear unless the correction is made to resolve the faults.

I'll contribute what I know by looking at mine. The only setting in my BCM through the app I could locate is "Remote Start Present".

There is the following and I have all these selected with my remote start. Some of which overlap with the VTA system.

Hood Ajar Switch Input Present --- Switch that came with your kit

VTA Hood Ajar Monitoring --- Needed for remote start to prevent accidental starting

VTA System Present --- Not needed for remote start but why not have that cool theft alarm

Hood Ajar Switch Usage (Select “500 ohm and 500 ohm parallel resistors) --- This was factory set before Alfa.

Sound Horn with Remote Start CSM --- Give you the options on the 8.4 screen to enable or disable horn chirps with remote start.

As far as connecting to the Radio Frequency Hub, I'm not sure. Does it say anything about resetting the hub after enabling the codes in the BCM?

What I have come across is you make sure you have your settings correct, then let the rf hub "learn" by updating similar to doing new keys or tpms settings.

Takes entering the pin also as described in the other procedures.

For anyone that was looking at my Auto Dim mirror that was not working.

I don't know why, but before activating Auto Dim with the AlphaOBD it was working fine and I could test in with a flashlight. So for 2 days after activating it with AlphaOBD, I was trying to get it to work always using the same flashlight to test it and it would not work. Thought I had a problem. Last night while driving, the auto dim worked as it should, I figured it just needed time for the computer to update. This morning I tested it with the flashlight and it does not work. I don't know what the difference is between now and before activating with Alpha but, it works when it should and I am happy. :) I want to thank @Ricks Ram and @Ghost_RAM for helping trouble shoot the "problem"!! These forums are a great source of help and information...and way to spend money....

@WTM75 You know, I forgot to ask but are you also covering the little lens light sensor on the back when performing the tests? I have noticed sometimes it is not necessary when it is just dark enough to trip the headlights in the auto mode.

Edit: You can easily do it when testing by putting your finger over it on the back of the drivers side section of the mirror.

Are you referring to the auto dim on the rear view mirror as stated above? If so, just perform the same test and if it dims then it works and it will be the same for the exterior mirrors if equipped.

Yeah, interior rear view and exterior side view.

Is there any indicator that they are dimmed? Like a green light that my G37 has? Or does the glass just magically appear dimmer/darker?

No, there’s no indication on Rams other than they get darker. Like almost a blue ish color?

Mine work extremely well. It's obvious if someone is behind me. You can also just turn the setting off at night when someone is behind you. You should see the difference immediately.

I have a '16 2500 cummins g56 sport appearance. Thank you all for the work in this thread! After reading every single post I opted to buy the obdlink mx and dive in. So far I have:
*Set the tow mirrors I added to adjust correctly.
*Set the fogs to stay on with high beams.
*Enabled remote global down (up doesn't work for me either.)
*Added controls for cargo cam even though I don't have one yet.(gives a fault)
*and, drumroll please...
Got the commercial controls for the factory aux switch bank/aux pdc (that I added myself) to magically show in my cluster. This was a HUGE win that I've wanted for over a year now.

Things that didn't work because I don't have the proper modules:
*Tilt in reverse mirrors
*Easy exit driver seat

how did you do the factory aux switch bank? I've added that as well on my '17 2500 and I'd like to enable it as well.

I did This then This. It worked like a charm for me. Only the four showed up in the evic under commercial settings initially. Then the second link is how I got all five. Seems that it hasn't worked for everyone though.

Thanks! Couldn't tell from the first set of pictures, but did you select the "Switch 1-4 Option" or the "Switch 2-5 Option"?

Are these the same faults that are causing the check Engine light, though? I just figured these were (for lack of a better word) small, insignificant faults.

I'm skeptical because a couple weeks ago, I got a check engine light, had a mechanic check the code (said it was exhaust -- probably a worn out gas cap) and clear it. A couple days later it came back -- so I'm guessing that my check engine light is on again with the same code (because I'm still using the same cap), but it didn't show up in that faults screen, so I figured I was in the wrong screen, and there was a different screen to check the check engine light (if that makes sense?)

Where do you connect the cameras for that multiple input option. I have the customtronics harness and that works good. Was just curious.

This is my wish list:

DRL - Activated!!!!!!!!!!!!
TPMS low pressure - adjustable settings
Speedo calibrator for diff tires
Power fold mirrors when locking/unlocking/keyless entry
Auto roll down windows with keyfob
Multiple camera inputs Front/Sides/Cargo
Regen notice on evic
Stereo volume same when starting/turning off (if off stays off)
Always show transmission gear in evic

The only cameras that we've been able to get working are the rev cam and cargo camera. I'm using the cargo camera input for my front camera currently with the soft key for cargo in my bottom lineup for quick access.

The camera inputs in the harness are only activated on 24, 25, 26 (cargo) and 31, 32, 33 (rev cam). 21, 22, and 23 are not active and I have not been able to make them so with Alfa so far. On my 16' Express with a donor 15' Limited VP4 anyway.

You folks have done some great things here this is awesome!
I own a 2016 Longhorn. It already has many options set. I have 3 items wanting to address. 1 Would I be able to program air shocks to automatically lower at engine off (enter and exit mode)? 2 Could I have my power fold mirrors automatically fold in when engine stops?
3.Can I reverse guide lines on backup camera for trailer manuveres.
What are your thoughts? Can any of these be done using this tool?
Thank you
I have the air suspension on my truck, and have not yet found a way to make the truck go into auto entry/exit mode when turned off.

Anyone?

Is the above method the only way to check and any all faults causing the check engine light?

Or are there different "types" of faults?
