FYI, I'm 99.9% sure that if you're using @DeereGuy 's cargo cam harness, the Lin Bus CBC signal is connected to the camera just like the factory trucks.

M² Mods.
It is connected on mine with Deer Guys harness 100% sure. But as stated earlier I don't have those codes showing with the alpha tool. I emailed the developer so I am hoping he can shed some light on it for my situation.

It may not have been an option until later trucks but IDK. I also wonder if a missing setting would show up with the AE Tool ... Not that I'd trust it to make a change.

Still can't find anything on the bed light switch for the 2018's. It has a tan wire and black wire. I would assume it is constant power since it is to be use outside the truck. I have searched and E mail the developer but nothing. Think of just tapping the tan into the 12v power wire of the trailer harness but I hate to. But it may be awhile before the 2018 shows up in the app. Opinions.....

Lol I was just saying the same thing to a friend. I do have the option to enable the (static+Dynamic Grid Lines)in my Customer Settings Menu so I'm pretty sure it should be there to set in the other section but it is not.

I can try it on my 18' to see what it does. I show the options in my codes but have not activated them yet.

I'm not sure either but hopefully someone will help out. Just an FYI, while I can't be certain, I don't think the developer will be able to assist with that. I'm pretty sure he is an Alfa Romeo guy and not a Ram guy. We are just getting the benefits of an app he developed for all FCA vehicles.

Thank You. Yes guess my only option is to tap the 12v trailer wire or pay the dealer but really don't want them in my BCM!!

Where does the Lin wire connect too? I can try connecting the left over wire in my harness and see if that’s the missing link.

Well I set the setting to Dynamic & Static. So here is the weird part. Scott116, Ghost and myself have different results from each other. Here they are:

Scott116: "I enabled static and active, I tried with both checked and every other possible combination, key on engine running, truck in reverse... still no cargo cam line. My cargo cam line box stays checked when I first enable it with Alfa but if I uncheck it it won’t let me check it again."

Ghost: "I can actually enable both and they will stay checked even after an engine cycle. Dynamic overrides static though."

Me: I now have both options Dynamic and Fixed guidelines now in the menu, the same as Ghost shows in post #3316. And just like Ghost I can check both and both stay checked at the same time. But when I check the box for Cargo Camera Guidelines (as seen in Scott's post #3309) it STILL unchecks itself after a couple of seconds.

So nobody has gotten the guidelines to show up for the cargo camera and the 3 of us have had different results as to how the soft buttons behave.

Compared 2017 and 2018 on the dctool connector site, and 2018 shows a connector for "Switch - Cargo Lamp" that the 2017 list DOES NOT have, so Im guessing thats it. Looks like there would be a Violet and a Black lead going into it.

Ill see if I can use the rest of the connector diagrams to track it backwards.

EDIT: so it looks like pin 27 of "INLINE BODY/IP" connector is a Beige wire for the cargo lamp switch signal. Pin 24 of "INLINE - BODY/CHASSIS" is Violet for the cargo lamp switch. Im not sure if (how) they interact, though.

Just a question, why would you want the grid lines to show up on the cargo camera?

Not working on the cargo camera might be because static and dynamic grid lies are primarily used for reverse cameras.

And to continue on the bed light front, from the 2018 owners manual:

"If the vehicle’s speed is 0 mph (0 km/h), these lights can also be turned on using the switch located just inside the pickup box. A telltale will illuminate in the instrument cluster display when this lights are on. Pushing the switch a second time will turn the lights off."

So, my guess is that it does feed back into the BCM or at least connects to the CAN bus somewhere/somehow so the speed sense can allow or disallow control from the bed located switch.

Because the tailgate maybe down and you are backing up? And if there was no need for it why does Ram have it in the settings? There is a factory setting "Cargo Camera Guidelines", so apparently even Ram thinks there is a use.

I found pin 26 on the C6/F connector on the bcm is circuit L26- cargo lamp switch signal

I connected to my Lin on the Drivers side C Pillar pin#6 but it is not present there on all trucks. It depends on what truck you havec and what trim level it is. The correct wiring was there on my 14 Express 1500 Quad Cab but not present on STecoD's 15 Crew Cab 1500 Tradesman. Both trucks were equipped identically as far as interior options. The pic with more populated wires is my truck his is the other. There are other places you can connect to the Lin though depending on what truck you have. 2638d9720b7185f098f3696c15fe4a88.jpg325313f87d6ca06598dd43808cf050b7.jpg

I see your point. Didn’t know the setting was there.

I agree if its there why doesn’t it work.

Just personally didn’t see the need for gridlines to highlight the side of the truck bed.

The consensus is that the "cargo camera guidelines" would be a single static line in the center of the bed lined up with the trailer hitch.

See post #3309 on page 331 and there is a pic of a screen shot from the 8.4 showing the setting.

It just draws a "center line" for hooking up a fifth wheel trailer.

Ok I get it now, a line for fifth wheel trailer makes sense,

Was just confused as dynamic and static gridlines are primarily used for the reverse camera

Might there be another setting in Alfa specifically for the cargo camera, or maybe one the the developer hasn’t listed?

Okay, it will be the weekend before I’m able to pull it back apart and try it. My truck is a 2016 2500 Cummins 4wd crew cab Laramie
