Synthetic Oil

I contacted 2 local distributors.
Both were over 80 miles away. One was a cycle/atv sales-repair shop & the other was a small auto parts store in a small town.

Neither seemed really gungho about ordering the 5W-40 for me.
Both basically said with shipping or the gas I would use driving too either of their locations to pick it up would not be any cheaper then the Amazon price shipped too my door.
Sorry to say I’m not spending over $200 on Oil just to expect Free Shipping when I get it on every order from Amazon.

I will continue to run the Rotella T6 if they keep producing the CK-4/CJ-4 version.
If they switch to only the CK-4/SN version I will make the switch to Schaeffers or begin adding 8oz of ZDDPlus @ every T6 OCI.
The CK-4/CJ-4 Version of the T6 is a great diesel oil!

It’s the 10W-30 & 5W-30 diesel oils to possibly avoid CK-4/SN certification. (Very low ZDDP levels)! Not good for a powerful Diesel engine.
I just found a couple of 15W-40 oils & a 5W-40 oil that now carries the CK-4/SN cert. SOB!

I have plans on beginning a UOA program with Blackstone & the new 6.7L. I know they are not the most accurate but they are very accessible & not that expensive.

Then at some point before the 25K mile mark add this single stage oil by-pass kit!
With the Amsoil by-pass filter.

Need to create or find a different bracket which the filter is mounted vertical not horizontal.

Yes another possible Cam'Lifter fail with a non moly's oil. It was 6 in a row, now about 7 of the last ten where oils w/o moly being used at time of the failure. Walmart Super Tech...

Don't know about Nick, but Schaeffer's products are available from a number of sources. Amazon sells it, but Amazon's prices are the same I believe as those on Schaeffers own website, tho if you are a Prime member, you get free shipping on most stuff from Amazon. Most outlets I've seen unfortunately list Schaeffers products at or very close to full-boat retail.
To get free shipping from Schaeffers directly, or from one of their representatives, an order has to equal $375 or more. That's a lot of oil, however my local (he's just the closest @ roughly 120 miles away) rep gave me a good price, easily about $2/quart less than retail at the quantity I purchased. I found it unfortunate that the two different people Syn spoke to were less than cooperative. A sale is a sale, and treating customers right goes a long way towards repeat business. Guess those two are ok turning away paying customers.
As I've got 4 vehicles, and other pieces of equipment to maintain, the 18 gallons of oil is roughly a years worth, and I'll certainly go back to him when I reach my re-order point.

As for right now: As long as Shell keeps producing the T6 in the CK-4 version I will stick with it. This oil is a very robust quality oil.
If they stop producing it & switch to Only the CK-4/SN formula I will definitely make the switch to the Schaeffers 9000 5W-40.

I will continue to search out a lower price for this oil compared too what Amazon offers.
I will give SalesRep a shout.

The thing is we are not Made of $$$.
Buying a gallon at a time (1 every couple months is a very good convenience).
Having to spend over $200 on OIL @ one time just to get the lower price is not on my smart meter.

With knowing I’m going too see Very similar results between these 2 oils.
Is it really worth the extra time/$$.

Anyway: I’ll figure it out.

Amsoil makes a whole kit for your truck with everything needed to install. Includes vertical mounting bracket too.

Amsoil Cummins 6.7 Bypass Filter Kit

Depending on the viscosity, I either go Mobil 1 or Penzoil. I have an awesome link at home to a website that does shear and other kinds of testing that I can post that will offer some insight as to how these different oils perform under hard conditions

Yup! Had it on my list.
Same set up as the first one I posted,just a different bracket.

Have to hoard back some $$$.
These kits aren’t cheap!

How much are those filters?

Catch the name on this filter kit? they named it after Syn.

Derailer kits are only 38 bucks, and you can add as many filters as you feel you want, just buy another kit, and better yet you can use factory filters instead of paying 50 dollars for a filter.

Every time you buy filters for a Amsoil bypass kit, you can have paid for an entire redline oil change, lol. That is 7 qrts plus a RP filter, same cost as two amsoil bypass filters.

7 qrts redline 70 bucks, add a rp filter 15 bucks tops = 85 bucks.

Amsoil bypass filters (not the kits) cheapest 40 bucks for the small ones which nobody would use (defeats the purpose) and 60 bucks for the large filters. 2 large amsoil filters = 120 bucks, what?

Considering how well the RP did in the filter thread test, I'm not sure I would bother with a bypass filter, but if I was I would get a derailer and buy two kits and still run double RP filters as opposed to paying 120 bucks for 2 filters, that seams crazy to me. Now if I had money to burn, then maybe it wouldn't matter so much, but you are looking at a 200 dollar oil change and that is dyi price.

I drove a Cummins for a decade, I was a member of tdr for my personal Ram, not many people buy the single bypass kit. If you want to extend the oci for a diesel a worthy goal, opt for a double filter system. Kinda tossing money away if you are just going to use a single filter. just say'n

Just now able to post after forum change. Good to hear you didn't need bypass and stent placement went well. I am sure you were told to be careful with knives and "stuff" now that you will be on blood thinners.
