This is the first I've heard of someone being able to manipulate the mileage, in for results!!

Uhh found one local for $300 I'm so tempted but my wife will murder me...

It's easier to beg for forgiveness than permission, right?

Thanks for suggestion car-parts.com. After an afternoon of e-mailing around I found one with 205kms more than my current reading!! I don't think you can get closer than that, but it came at a premium, $340 Shipped. Unfortunately it's the 'Sport' not the Bighorn with the silver backing. Again, I cannot complain with the mileage being so close.

The question is - will you remember to stop driving before you pass the 205km's....

I love car-part.com, theres a "pro" version that is better but costs $$$$ they even have pictures n stuff. I have a "like new" leather steering wheel coming for only $200 - and it includes a free column (that I can't use - any body need an 8-speed column??)

Cheers!

Normally it wouldn't be an issue as my daily commute is about 20kms and my cluster will be here this Friday. EXCEPT I'm driving to Saskatoon and back on friday for work, so my new cluster will be roughly 450kms under true mileage still close.

Damn you 13+ guys suck..

Anybody do anything with that wiring diagram to make it work on a 09-12.

I would think it's possible like anything else..
Question though. Wonder if my steering wheel buttons would still work to control it...

Nah... just the rings and emblem. I don't think the whole bezel would look good painted. Maybe hydrodipped, but other stuff would have to be dipped as well.

Holy **** cakes that looks cool!

I would ask you how you did that, but then you would tell me it's pretty easy. Then my brain would tell me that I can do it, too. While the rest of me knows full well, that I CAN'T!!! Lol

But you can David, you can.

Remember when I wrote up how to take apart the front emblem?
Same thing.

Rings are held on by green glue. Pick at it with a knife til its off. Push the rings outs. Same for the top emblem.

Sand, prime, paint. Let dry/cure. Stick them back on, and I use plastic epoxy to replace the glue in the back.

Minus cure time for the paint..... Can all be done in 2 hours ish.

Cluster Mileage Hack

So I can confirm that the mileage in the cluster can be hacked. I had mine set to match the actual mileage on the truck.

I forgot to take a picture immediately, so there appears to be a minor difference between the old and new, but in reality there is not.

A quick kijji search for "Speedometer Repair" came up with a bunch of local guys who could do it, and the prices varied wildly. I found that the best way was to email so the vendor did NOT make the inital assumption that I wanted my actual milage rolled back.

For some reason they could NOT reset the engine hours, but COULD reset the idle hours. They also could not switch the ODO from Miles to KM. Theoretically if I found a truck with a 8.4 Uconnect I could swap it into that, use the radio to change the settings, then swap it back. That seems like more trouble than its worth. At some point I'd like to put the 8.4 into my truck and that will fix it.

So you purchased a canadian cluster and it reads in miles? I realize your speedometer reads kms but odometer is stuck in miles?
