2001 1500 Noise in Steering

I have a noise in my steering. It feels/sounds like it is in the column & it only happens when I'm on a gravel road. The tie rods are tight and there is no wear on the tires. Everything drives & feels great when I'm on hard surface roads.

Is this a known problem? I remember having to replace the lower shaft (between the column & the box) to cure an issue on my old 91 150.

Check the spring for wear. Where the steering comes thru the fire wall or check your steering gear box
