At those temps, the battery and sensors are not ready for prime time. An overnight cold-soak at anything much below 0ºF can be a problem. At those temps, a battery heater is your best defense. The other alternative is a better battery, I'd check with the battery guys and see if they have any ideas. We used to have some aircraft batteries (not the Boeing 787 units) that could tolerate low temps better. I wonder if Optima has anything that might work in cold temps.

The TSB they did on mine was just released. Its been a year in the making apparently? I will see if I can get the number.

My code was related to multiple misfires. Happens often when plugged in with a cold ambient temp. Hopefully this clears it up :)

The Optima YELLOWTOP® battery is protected from freezing all the way down to -30F and the Optima REDTOP® battery, all the way down to -50F.

Biggest battery you can get in our size that I could find was at Advance Auto parts 850 CCA AGM. it has list price of $181.99 but found a $50 off code online with in store pickup. I don't know if would help issue and for you guys have warranty probably no reason to go that direction.

Update. Last night ambient -27. When it was cold like this with the truck plugged in, the first start would always result in sputtering and stumbling for a few seconds. After this flash, plugged in, first morning start today was smooth as silk.

When i first had my truck the first week was -40 with wind chill of -49.. The Cel light came on i freaked out because i only had 11kms on it.. that was a month ago and we have had temps in the -30's lately and it hasn't come back on. i just disconnected the battery and it went away for good so far. i mean at those temps nothing wants to move or work except maybe polar bears and penguins.

Mine also seems to be running better after the latest flash.
Good stuff :happy107:
