My son has a 2015 Rebel with a burned out headlight. He was told he had to replace the whole unit at a cost of $350. Does this make sense or are there alternatives or other ways to replace with an oem light.
Thanks.

Of course you can change the bulb. You just have to remove the headlight and then the access cover on the back of it.

A 2015 Rebel should have projector headlights, those use 9012 for the lows and 9005 for the highs. Starting in 2016 the factory projectors use 9005s in both Highs and Lows
For $350 you could probably put a HID set up in, put LEDs in the highs and get AlfaOBD to make the necessary changes.

If it is one of the turn signals that is out then yes there is no easy way to just change that in the projectors. Look at some of the aftermarket offerings, Modifystreet/Alpharex has some suitable replacements that won't be much more than what the dealer wants.
