I need some advice, I'm finding myself doing way too much research as you'll see below.

I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with the 8.4" screen and standard audio, looking to upgrade my speakers and probably install a subwoofer under the rear seats in the storage area.

Seems like a lot of people go with kicker speakers (dash, front and rear doors). Crutchfield sales rep suggested Rockford Fosgate Prime speakers (looks like they are on a decent sale), I've also seen suggestions online to get Infinity speakers.

Not looking to break the bank, I listen to rock half the time and rap the other. I'd like some good bass but nothing crazy. Some said the Infinity speakers are a bit weak on bass, but if I get a subwoofer not sure if that matters.

Here's what I've been looking at. Sorry for the lengthiness, wanted to give exact options that would help others in the future. I'm very open to suggestions if any of this doesn't make sense.

You can fit a 6x9 in the front doors with a 1/4" spacer. Crutchfield doesn't tell you that. Also, Kicker makes a sub you can put almost anywhere, called the Hideaway, worth looking into. And last but not least, have you considered the RAM specific KICKER upgrade?

You have quite a few good options available. Spend some time knockin around the audio forum and don't be afraid to use the search function! Good Luck!

Those will fit front and rear no spacer needed.

I don't know if your the type of person that needs serious hardware or not, but... I have liked Memphis Audio speakers from way back when. This RAM is the 1st time I upgraded speakers in the past 15 years and I didn't know what to get so I started off with the dash speakers. I dropped a set of Memphis Audio PRX's in the dash and moved the equalizer and balance settings to the same place people have posted they moved their settings after installing ALL new speakers. Bass all the way up to full. Mid 2-3 bar up from the middle. Treble 3 below half and shifted the balance 2 clicks to the rear. That's all I needed! The dash speakers and equalizer shift alone was amazing!

With the factory speakers shifted to the back and the bass all the way up with negative treble... the factory speakers just seem to be providing bass and mids while the new dash speakers raise the sound stage and provide the highs and some mids. Those crap factory speakers rumble enough that I will be pulling the back door panels tomorrow to hunt down rattles.

We all have our favorites but if I can suggest anything, change out the dash speakers 1st and play with the setting, you'll be surprised. I may go back for the 6x9 Memphis Audio's later, but as for now... I can't imagine them being $180 better.

I put a set of Pioneer TS-D6902R in my rear doors on my 16.
Without an amp, they have serious bass at just under mid volume and up.

All the speakers were replaced and I am happy with the sound.

Did any of those require a custom bracket to install?

If I remember correctly, just the front door 6 1/2 did.

I don't remember on the rear doors, IF it was anything back there, I would have used the spacer off of the stock speaker. You destroy the stock speaker doing that but they are junk anyways.
The magnet on the rear speakers is huge - and I just honestly do not remember if I used the stock spacer or not.
