So I'm the lucky owner of an exhaust tick from the passenger side manifold. I did a bunch of research and found:

1) 4th gen - exhaust bolts were snapping off in the engine block.
2) 5th gen (my 2019 I assume) - they added a cross bar at the top and bottom of the manifolds, which stopped studs from snapping off but caused cracking manifolds.

Cracked manifold is the lesser of 2 evils compared to pre-snapped bolts. So I grab a manifold from the dealer and finally get around to taking mine off today. Well screw me if the same back 2 bolts aren't already snapped off in the block and the manifold isn't cracked. IMPORTANTLY I see that there's no cross bar installed on my manifold at all. It looks exactly like a 4th gen not the 5th it is.

Can anyone confirm if the 5th for sure was supposed to include those cross bars? I'm just pissed that I've already got snapped off bolts and it wasn't even me snapping them and before I call Ram to complain my truck is missing parts intended for it I want to make sure I don't sound like a total idiot. I tried calling the dealer, they were of no help. He said "well the bars didn't fix anything anyways", that's not really the point in my opinion.

Check your build date on the door, apparently some of the real early built 19 DT trucks didn't have the cross bars installed.
Sand or machine flat you're existing manifolds, throw them back on with Remflex 6022 gaskets and new bolts, and there's a good chance you'll never have to touch the manifolds again.Do not use "New" manifolds if your old ones aren't cracked, just flatten them,as they'll have taken a set,and usually won't warp again, while new manifolds will just warp and break bolts all over again. The Remflex 6022's are a thick graphite gasket, that have the ability to handle a bit of expansion and contraction, with out breaking the bolts,or leaking.

Maybe this is the silver lining here. Thanks wild one. I'll return the dealer manifold (never opened. Certainly hope they'll take it back) and price out a machine shop to face the old one when I pull it. Hopefully my mig skills can get the snapped bolts. I'll look into that gasket too.

Forgot to mention. My 2019 was the ONLY 2019 delivered to the dealer lot november 2019. So there is a very good chance it was one of the earliest batch made.

Some of the earliest 2019 DT trucks were built in April 2018 and hit Dealer lots in TX last week of July. I have an early build April 2018 that I bought 1 Aug 2018.
You need to look in the drivers door at the sticker to see build date. (Month/year)

Added: Think U meant Nov 2018 in yer post, not 19.

Yes sorry dec 2018. Just finished my 10 day shift and I'm brain cooked. Correct mine is a July 2018 assembly.

A big belt sander will also work,if you have one. Wire brush the broken bolts as much as possible, then weld a washer to them first, then weld a nut to the washer, and don't forget to disconnect both battery posts before you do any welding, and try and hook the ground up as close as you can, perferably to the head itself

I only just happened along the washer tip the other day On one youtube video. Glad to hear it's not crazy and is recommended. Adds a bit of a spatter shield too I guess. Thanks again!
