I traded my 2015 Laramie ecodiesel for a 2023 limited hemi. Only 39k miles and I started getting all kind of weird codes. The more I read about the first gen eco the more nervous it make me. My 2023 is the e torque. I love the limited and the hemi. Had a front tire blow due to debris from a wreck while pulling it behind my bus. As of today, it is in the body shop for the fourth time. My insurance companies PEREMIERE body shop has ruined it. Dark gray and it is now three different colors down the passenger side!! They painted the whole side and it looks like a high school class painted it. Dull and orange peel, which you can see in the second picture. Didn't even remove the bumper so a line shows there and at the front of the bed. And to top it off, they have dropped my Mopar folding cover and ruined it. The manager said they could get parts for it!!LOL I am sick of it. They turned a 6k repair into 20 k after they billed the insurance company three different times.! I am Currently in negotiation to have them pay me the depreciated value. I have a 2025 longhorn limited and other than the sound I love it!LOL My only concern is a new engine. They told me the ecodiesel was the engine of the future and the best thing since sliced bread!@. Now they are saying the same about the hurricane. Should I trust them again?

1st thing U need to get all the legal stuff done on the 2023 and settled, trying to sell-upgrade in legal battle not gonna help U.
2nd: Luck of the draw on the new I6. If U just use as a GG prob OK, as a work horse: ahhhhh, IMHO, no. Wait for the new V8 Hemi's that are coming back 2026 ish.
ADDED: I had an ED, 2015, which by the way was 2nd Gen ED, and I traded up in 2018 to a 5th Gen Hemi, did not wanna roll the dice on all the issues.
As @tidefan1967 related: New Motor, Buy warranty (the extended) But TBH, I would wait for the new Hemi. (or old revived one).

All above IMHO only.

research problems with SO huricane, see the other 5 gen ram forums, yeah trust them again not so much? The problems and frustrations are coming early and the dealers punt everything. Don't shoot the messenger, this is not from me, I'm sure ten guys will chime in and tell us all how much they love their 5 gen hurricane engine and it is all "overblown".. Look at the problems and the miles the stuff is happening and the result.

I was offered a Hurricane-equipped Ram when I was shopping last Sept.
No thanks to introductory engines, IMO…yes, it’s still introductory in a Ram.
It is also heavily-stressed, the way I see it. Two Turbos driving different sets of 3 cyls…..
When Chas Lindbergh was shopping for an airplane to fly the Atlantic he was asked “Why are you doing this in a single-engined airplane? Why don’t you get a twin-engine ‘plane?”
He replied, “That would Double the chance of an engine failure.”

That is same Color of my 1500 Lonestar
Same fender molding.

I had a 2015 Eco diesel. It was a **** show bad engine in the shop. Every six months only had 48,000 miles on it.
Traded it in on the bigger brother Longhorn 2500 mega cab Cummins never look back

Never buy a first year anything. I made that mistake once on a 2011 F150 Ecoboost. They finally got that truck/engine right for the 2014 model year.

I'd give the hurricane powered 1500 a couple years for them to iron out the kinks.

Does anyone remember all the problems the new 2019 body style had? And all it was done was a new body. Didn't touch the drive train much. Toyota tundra new twin turbo is having problems as well. Avoid it for a few years and be happy.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

My previous experience indicates that the shop the insurance company recommends does so because they have a financial reason, usually willing to do the work more cheaply.
