Hello All
Bought a new 25 Ram 1500 CC 4x4 SST
Yesterday.
Earlier today got home had truck off for like 10-15 minutes.
I could hear like a little tiny motor running through the driver side front wheel well. What did I hear???
It did stop after a bit. Thanks

These things talk all the time. There are a couple videos out there and Ram is suppose to release a fix for this as there have been a report of dead batteries. From what I understand the truck is always checking things. Mine does it all the time. It sounds like hydraulics, and motors going off. One suggestion is keep your keys further than 20/25 feet away because one of the things it is doing is searching for the key???
For some reason my wife gets a big hoot out of it because it is always talking to us! HA
I have not had any troubles and have not known any to be bothered about it.

Another part of the explanation is the truck is active because of all the amenities that the buyer wants on all the vehicles. Forgot to add that as another reason why these things are always active.

In my 21 other truck that was always checking venting in the fuel tank and engine.

My 11 non e-torque hemi makes a few noises after I shut it off as well. I notice it a lot because I get home from work at 1 am and the neighborhood is quiet. I shut the truck off and walk to my mailbox and i can hear it doing its thing. It only lasts for a few seconds. Like mentioned above, it's basically just the truck shutting down it's systems

It may be the electric motor circulating coolant through the turbos for a few minutes after the motor is shut off. It does that to help prevent oil from coking in them from the heat after shutoff.

Mine will sometimes level the air suspension, especially when I get close with the key. That makes quite a racket.

Well, since they happened to make the decision to put them on every vehicle I guess we will never know if it was consumer driven or a conspiracy to drive up auto profits across all brands? I just bought a "base model" vehicle and it is loaded with tech. Every friend I have is dismayed a couple months into buying new vehicles with everything hanging on them.

The ones that do not own a 25 model Ram do not know. Yes it is the pump/s cooling down the turbos right after shutdown. That is only one of the noises. These things make all sorts of noises all day and night. Some of the noises are like gears/little motors like I said and there are about a half dozen in all. Plus when you walk out with your key then it really comes to life.
Ram is aware of the noises and they supposedly have a fix and it was said they were going to release the fix this quarter because in some instances some have drained batteries. But ,,, with most hear say some are just getting one side of the story and only the owners really know how long a truck sits for.
Yes they make noise,,, Yes Ram is aware,,,, Yes they are supposed to have a fix. So it is coming. I imagine the fix is to shut down some of the things that are going on. The cooling of the turbos only run for a bit after shutdown, sometimes if I make a short run to the store they do not even run then. There is nothing getting damaged that I have heard of other than a drained battery. For right now it is what it is until they release the fix.
Testerdahl has mentioned this in one of his truck videos and yes his RHO makes a bunch of noises too.

I got another issue, the start/stop feature stopped working and wouldn’t go from a stop light and check engine light on.
Had idea what it was.
Had it scanned at local Oreillys.

Relay stuck in off position, wonder if that lawnmower battery is also suspect?
At less then 600 miles on it. Lol

Was notified there are system updates for my truck. Waiting for a return call so I can get it in there and have them run the update. I sure do wish that they would do all the updates over the ole innerweb so a person would not have to take it to the dealer!

Actually surprised they're not able to do OTA updates. Maybe they're more involved updates and requires a flash of some of the modules. Tesla has been doing OTA updates for like 10 years now, you'd think the larger manufacturers would be able to figure that out by now.

Ford has been doing this since 2021. The early 2021's had issues where they wouldn't update OTA. They can flash any of the modules on the CANbus as far as I know. They got it sorted out and it has been pretty reliable since. I saw that on my Ram they have you hookup to WiFi so they can do OTA updates, I figure they could do the FW on any of the modules on the CANbus, can't they?

I have a 2025 if that makes a difference.

Hopefully this might be part of the things that make bumps in the night! HA!! a fix for all the things that run at random??Final was called back. He was in a hurry but the way I understood it was there a some updates for the infotainment might be the stereo? I will find out on Monday. Once in a blue moon the stereo acts up but nothing major do we shall see???

Check for updates on the system here at the house and nothing over the innerweb.

He did say they have to flash it and he wants to run it a couple times too while he has it??????????

A coolant pump for the turbos?

Nearly all modern turbo vehicles have a small electric pump in the cooling system that will run for a short period after turning off the vehicle. This is to cool the turbo(s) down and prevent oil coking.
