Right stuff. You can put a thick bead let it dry then install lens. If you put lens on while it’s wet ,you'll have to cut it off to change bulbs.

If I had this problem….(and I plan to closely inspect today because I witnessed this on previous Rams)… I would place the “seam” at the bottom.. so that IF any water got inside…it could drain Out.

I’m curious why another posted suggests on the side instead.

I have a 2019 and my third brake light leaked. Took it to the dealership to repair under warranty. They said that it was not cover and would cost me 325. to replace. I said to the poor ******* """"W"""T"""F!!!! I used the rubber double sided sticky junk and fixed it myself. No more smelly carpet issues. Then 6 months later there is an actual recall for this to replace the whole 3rd brake light.

This picture is upside down, you can see the longer part is flipped on install. There should be no seam except on bottom because water tends to not fly upward. When you say drain out, I think that isn't a real option, the real option is prevent water from intruding lest fix it again? This has been 9 year fix no leaks, I will likely do it again this summer just to see and inspect. Nothing really is a lifetime fix, everything has a lifespan. I would do this on a brand new truck, avoid the water day one, I regret not doing this sooner for sure.

I just did this on my 2014 and found the "easy fix" material was a bit too wide/ thick. When I first installed it, I watched as I was EVENLY tightening the screws side to side. It was clearly apparent the housing was tweaking in the middle. I removed it, trimmed to outer edge off the weather strip and the assembly went in with a lot less force/ pressure on the housing itself. I verified it was sealing using a slender thin piece of paper doing a pull test in the middle as I tightened.
The housing warps due to not being strong enough to withstand the pressure of the gasket with only 2 outside screws. If it were metal and adequate thickness, no problem. But Plastic? IMO there should have been screws in the middle.
The problem with plastic is it is not stable, especially when exposed to sunlight, heat etc.
~ 40 years ago one of my college instructors stated Plastic will replace metal soon. I responded, not in our lifetimes. This is a perfect example of why.:favorites13:
Newer Ram, NOTE: 4 screws

The fix burla spoke of is by far the cheapest and easiest..home depot has the product, definitely works..little thick like one said but just go easy
side to side and it does compress down...had mine this way for good 5-6 years now I'd say no leaks.
