Just purchased a 2018 3500 with 6.7L. Was wondering if the exhaust manifold was pre-release for a photo probe? Or do I need to try and find the manifold and drill it? I'm thinking wiring is going to be a challenge. The dash is way different than my 01/5.9 was. I wish the vehicle stats came programmed with a pyro. A gauge is more tangible than trying to time cool down.

A lot of guys are running gauges on the side panel x3, but now they have 3 in 1 gauge, check this out. Probably can put a bracket on the side there and not even mess with dash. Sorry don't know the answer to your question, who knows what they got with this def **** down there. I'd go down there and look. Every guy I know who put gauges in, put them on side panel.

This is way easier to wire and looks profesional.

Why add gauges? The truck already has Pre-Turbo, Post-Turbo, DOC/DPF and SCR temperature sensors.
You can use something like Scan-Gauge to monitor them. There is also the Torque App or Fusion with an OBDLink MX/MX+

There’s 5 factory exhaust gas temp sensors on you truck. The first one is after the down pipe before the dpf, and the last one is after the scr. There’s no provision for a probe on the exhaust manifold. If you’re dead set on installing one with a gauge, drill and tap in at the 5&6 junction. Not that it’s even necessary, as with factory tuning, you’ll never reach critically high egt’s. I’m not sure what temps you would use as a base for turbo cool down, or what difference in temps, but just go with the standard 1-5 minute cool down based on your immediate previous driving.

I always use about 350 degrees on the 01 5.9 CTD.
There is a turbo boost readout but no pyro provision on the new truck. I like to be informed especially when towing under load, never exceeding 1,250 deg. Jimmy 07, you may be right in that with a stocker, I may not have to worry about EGT. The 6.7 sure works easier than the 5.9.

Dang, ScanGauge II still looks like it came out of the panel of an old Cessna! You'd think in 2019 the display would be a little better. I ran an UltraGauge in my Ranger a few years back and really liked it...heck, there's even a wireless version now. If you have an old smartphone lying around, now you can put it to use.
