ok i get that we can use any "dongle" we want i was just wondering if any body has had success with the little blue mini befoe i go out and spend $50 on the app and $69US on something i may or may not need r if i should go with the can bus modules and skip messing around.

and i was hoping there might be some other members located in BC Canada that might now who sells them locally...mabye
I've used one that looks almost identical to yours with different branding to change bulb settings successfully. Here's what I have...

I guess what I was trying to explain earlier is, it can’t be said FOR SURE if it’ll work for what changes you want to make. Sure, you might have someone chime in and say, “I used that dongle to enable global down and change my tire thresholds with no problems”. Then, you buy it to make a few completely different changes, and it’s not capable. It CAN be said for sure that, of all the documented changes that have been made, somebody can chime in and say “yes, the MX is capable of that change”.

I have made simple changes like setting lighting to led with the one @SitKneelBend has linked also with a $15 elm327 obd2 reader that I had laying around just to see if they'd work. Anything past that I didn't try.

If you already have the dongle, what does it hurt to try it? If it doesn't work, you're no further behind than when you started, other than taking 15 - 20 minutes of you time to discover it either works or it doesn't.

Reading todays posts i just have to laugh, I was going to post a reply to Kurek post, then I thought to myself that I had seen the exact same question asked for the brake controller before but got busy before I could search and reply. Of course all there is maybe’s thats why as likes2build points out post #1 is the best reference.

None of this stuff is an exact science since it is reverse engineered by a very talented programmer. He uses and recommends the MX. Using something other than his setup is a risk and adds another variable into something that is not exact to begin with. There is a ton of information in this thread for one to research to make their own decision. I believe there are a few posts where other dongles did not work or worse seemed to change things the user did not intend to change. For me an additional $50 was worth it to reduce the risk of screwing up my truck and having to spend several hundred at the dealer to reflash it. I originally bought the MX to change DRL's. I have used to do that, upgrade to a 7" EVIC, setup new headlights, enable new power fold mirrors and add ATC to my truck. All of these changes worked the first time wit no trouble. IMHO the MX was worth the extra $50.

No. The auto fold option doesn't work when set in the BCM which is most likely because it was never an option on a Ram pickup. I think some members have been working with the developer to see if he can get it to work. In order for them to work you will need to install the correct door modules and switch. If you currently have power adjust mirrors then you will have all the necessary wiring and enable the power fold option in the BCM with alfa tool.

Says you posted this 15 hours ago. Last activity before was 18 and after was 13. Most of those hours being over night. Someone might be able to help during the day but this place isn't a 24/7 help line. Might take a bit for someone to see it or for someone who has a clue to respond.

I work rolling shifts (one month days, one month afternoons and one month midnights) and check several different threads nightly. If I can answer a question and help during my awake hours I do. So 24/7 can sometimes be true.

I gotta add, when it comes to something as important as our transportation and our safety I just don't get a good feeling out of maybe answers.

So I don't have a lot to contribute on the AlfaOBD because I haven't used it but if I'm ever asked about it I'm going to just decisively tell people use the MX or MX+ no maybes.

To close up the part of this conversation that involved me, I'm under a time crunch that's half my fault so yesterday I just took my truck in to the Ram dealer and had them add the sales code. (I had already physically installed the material parts) Incidentally my truck also had two outstanding recalls which were addressed, so that's cool. The service cost $145 - I don't have anything to contribute about whether that's too much or the right amount because I just needed it done.

Another member of this forum was extremely kind and offered this morning to meet me somewhere near where we both live and use his MX to program my truck, I no longer need that but it was still uncommonly nice of him to offer.

I think you'll find that on this forum, uncommon kindness is a common virtue...

A buddy just had the "U05 AutoPark Functionality" done..
Know with the door open, it won't go into gear..
Has anyone been able to disable the feature?
He likes to open the door when reversing into the garage.

The only way we have found around it is to make sure your seat belt is buckled when the door is open and the truck is moving.

You dont need to be in the buckled seat belt, the seat belt just need to be buckled......

If he's opening the door for the reason I think he is, just to be able to look straight back and see how close he is to the wall... might just be easier to spend a bit of time making sure his mirrors are adjusted right and invest a little money in some other parking aids (camera, or the tennis ball on a string, the wall laser thing, the floor bump thing, whatever's appropriate for his particular garage) .

I don’t think you can disable only the seat belt switch unless you remove the ORC module from the P/T chassis net. Even if you could, auto park would see it as not there, and park anyway. I’m not sure if anybody has tried, but there is a setting for it under VehConfig 3. See if it’s set, and if it is, try disabling it. Otherwise, like said, just leave the seatbelt buckled, or leave your foot resting on the brake pedal. Could also just use one of these- https://www.amazon.com/Seat-Belt-Le...uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

I will report back once I get access to the truck.

Sorry didn't notice your post. The door modules I used are 68225102AC Right side 68225103AC Left side. I reccomend contacting Benny @AllMoparParts.com in the vendor section on the forum to double check your part numbers and order them. They have great prices and he is familiar with most of the upgrades we do.
