Okay , update for everyone having the issue with park light out errors. As mentioned, I’d been through every setting in alfaobd and tried every trick in the book. The only thing that worked was to put an additional bulb on the output of the parking light circuit to trick the truck into seeing the additional load.
I was in contact with tech the entire time and relaying the info back and forth and they wanted to make sure they could send me the correct load resistors to try and fix the issue and have me report back so they would know what to tell other customers having the same issue since it’s only a percentage of us out there that alfaobd doesn’t remedy the issue for.
I had issues with alpharex getting the package to me but I’m pleased to say that it finally arrived today.
I can confirm that replacing the factory resistors alpharex install in these headlights with the new load resistors did NOT fix the error. BUT, using these resistors in line with the existing ones DID seem to solve the park light error.
they sent me 2 resistors but I installed one of them on the passenger side and it seemed to be enough to fix the problem . So I technically don’t need to install one on the drivers side but since I have one I think I may install it for the hell of it.
these resisters are in a plastic housing and do not get as hot as the aluminum style resistors. They do still get warm though, not warm enough you have to worry about melting anything but I still chose to mount it to my frame just to help act as a heat sink.
So if anyone is having this issue, there is a fix!. Contacting alpharex by email is slow, I got quick responses from them when messaging them through Facebook and Instagram.
I’m including pictures of how I’ve got it installed and the part number of the resistor that they sent me for reference. Hope this helps.
