Are bed liners generation specific?

Hi guys. Just got my 15 Ram yesterday. I'm a repeat customer... after my '13 got totaled I shopped every make HARD... but found my way back to ram.

Anyways. I tried searching and though I'm sure it's out there if I dig through enough threads... I didn't come up with my answer easily so I decided to just ask.

I don't think I'm going to go spray in this time around and for now am probably just going to get an under the rail drop in for cost sake. But doing my searching I came across bed rugs and am a little intrigued.

Anyways. If I scoop up a used drop in OR used bed rug, does it have to be 09-present? Or do previous generations fit just the same?

you might get lucky with a bed reg, but a plastic drop in wont fit. the front of the bed and the tailgates are too different, and 3rd gens used cleat tie downs where the 4th gens have hooks.
