I'm starting to finally mod my 2011 qc hemi ram and I was thinking of purchasing an aftermarket exhaust and eventually (when I can afford it) get American racing headers. Will those bolt to an existing catback system with no modification? Might be a dumb question but just making sure!

That's what I was thinking. So in other words, it's probably best to get a custom exhaust done once those are installed I take it?

They will go all the way back and make a new y and will tie into the back of your current exhaust. Do you have any other current mods on the truck? They offer 2 diff size primary tube sizes then offer with or without cats. Here is just about all the options currently for your truck in headers from the full longtube setup to the small shorties.

Those ARH long tubes go all the way back to just past the stock Y-pipe. They have their own y-pipe on the kit.

I don't have any other mods however I just ordered a vararam intake and 87mm ported throttle body and I was thinking an exhaust system next and then headers after. I didnt want to buy an exhaust system however if itll be useless with the ARH. Mine is 4x4 though and I read that the bbk headers may not fit 4wd. After I do all my bolt ons I'll get a tuner and a custom tune from hemi fever.

For the price of the longtubes you could run shorties and a converter and still come out ahead.

That's an interesting thought. That's why I just bought my vararam from you! Haha! What torque converter would you recommend. Also do you know if bbk headers will fit 4wd? If not I'm thinking jbas I guess.

The ARH's mate to the stock head pipe at the Y. The head pipe is what connects to the aftermarket cat back so you'll have a foot or so of stock 3" pipe in there.

in my opinion id say don't waste ur money on a cat back system and just replace the stock muffler for 150 bucks and that's with the install price, and save the money u saved by not getting a cat back system and put that towards the ARH

So just keep the stock dual exhaust pipes and go to a muffler shop and have them put in a Magnaflow (or whatever brand) 14" or 18" muffler and that should give me about the same gains and sound as that's currently there and then ARH and it will bolt right up?

Like Unbroken said, the ARH system is designed to tie into the stock setup. If you go with a full catback system, you will only have about 12-18" of stock piping in between the ARH y-pipe and the new catback system. It is all clamp on, so you wont have to weld anything.

The biggest benefits of going with a full catback system is that it is bolt on, fully mandrel bent, fully stainless, and comes with 5" tips.

if your looking for hp gains changing the muffler or getting a cat back isn't really gonna give you a whole lot...its gonna give you the sound, its the long tube headers with an intake and throttle body with the proper tuneing that will give you the power, id also recommend looking at the edge torque converters from moes to help you transfer some of that power

I ended up getting a Vararam Air Grabber and 87mm Ported Throttle Body from Moe's and then I got a Mufflex 14" Magnaflow from BSM Exhaust. Those are my first mods on my truck, so I'll keep building from there. Next mods will be headers, ground force drop, 180* tstat, and the torque converter. I'd love to change gears but 4WD and no aftermarket gears yet make that difficult so I'll stick the 3.55 non LSD that's in there for now. Eventually, may just do LSD and keep those gears if the aftermarket doesn't jump on board. Then Tuner will come next.

I know I was really mad at myself for not checking to see if it had 3.92 gears and LSD before I bought the truck. My last truck was a 2004 SC HEMI RWD with 3.92 and LSD. I drove it on the lot and liked the color and features and the price was where I wanted to be, so i bought it and didn't even think twice about it until about a month after I had it when I started getting the bug to mod. Then I found out that they changed the differentials and there were no gears currently available for swap and my heart has sunk a little. I'm sure they'll come around some time. But I'll get all the bolt ons out of the way and then move on from there.

ill let ya know in a couple months lol...ive been stuck in Afghanistan but should be home mid july so most that parts list is technically in the bed of the truck haha...I did the same thing when I bought my truck, my wife and I both loved the color and decided to buy it right before we deployed and after I left the dealership the first thing I do is try to roast the tires....well I saw it was only one tire and looked at the build sheet 3.55 with out the LSD...it was about the only option the truck didn't have lol but I was lucky enough that I got the 2010 so the Detroit tru trac should work just fine
