So I purchased a set of Aries step bars for my truck, and I finally installed them today. They arent bad steps for the price, but I ran into a few problems. Since I have a body lift they kind of dont look right. They hang down a little to low and I couldnt use the supplied hardware because the bolts werent long enough, no big deal I just used the ones from the body lift kit. Like mentioned from the site reviews they arent really the ones shown in the picture and they dont seem very durable. Instructions were a little iffy as none of the parts were labeled right/left. I will run these for now, but the next ones I get need to be mounted to the body/panel and not the body mounts..that way they will be up higher. Ill have to do some research to see if the Go Rhino ones get mounted to the body(like the oem steps) instead of way down on the body mounts. Overall I like them and Ill run them for a while! Not a bad step for the price you pay($170)!

Steps look nice, but I would definately try to fab up a bracket to mount them up closer to the cab. Do you have a picture of how they mount to the frame?

Well looking at them I could always cut the brackets, make new mount holes for the bars and that would raise them up. Id want to raise them up about 2". Ill take some pics of how they are mounted.

Great lookin truck man. The bars don't look right at all they are Way too low. Looks odd but if they are functional then they are ok for awhile right?

Id have to get my hands on a plasma cutter as the metal is pretty thick and Id have to cut a new hole where the steps mount through. Id like to cut about 2" off and move the mount hole 2" up which would raise the steps 2" up.

That looks like a very easy fix. Just cut 2" off the bottom of the brackets, drill a new hole like you mentioned for the steps to bolt to, and you are good to go. While the steps themselves look nice, I would get on fixing those brackets ASAP...haha.

Before you do any cutting, I would unbolt the steps from the brackets and then have someone hold them in place where you want them to set. Then make a mark at the bottom of the step where it touches the bracket so that you know exactly where to cut. You dont want to get greedy and cut off more material than you need.

I just got the same ones dropped off by UPS. Planning on getting the install done tomorrow. Will try to post pics of them on a stock truck. Opening the box I got what I expected for $170.

The look good to me. Perfect place for an actual functioning step. Bad if you wheel, but good to aid all your girlfriends to get in your truck.

I think on a stock truck they would sit about 2-3" higher, my body lift makes them sit low like this...so I think ill raise them a tad!

Got mine on today. To dark for pics. They're OK for the price. Driver side bar is tight as a frogs ass,but I cant get the pass side to not have a little wiggle. The install is a PITA!! The kit includes 4 different front braces & none of them fit right.

Well I finally got around to fixing my steps today. With my dads help we raised them up 1.5". Before we cut or drilled we held the steps in place to see where they looked right at/worked best at. They wound up needing to be raised 1.5" to be right so thats what we did. We cut the brackets, drilled new holes, painted the brackets and re-installed the steps. They definitely look right now, so here are some before and after pictures. I have some during but you guys know what cutting and drilling looks like haha.
