I was just quoted $1,000 from a local shop last month, the allignment was extra. Dealership wanted $1,300 with the alignment.

From a good mechanic shop, that seems very reasonnable. I did both upper and lower on my '02 for 200$. Did it myself. Plus 100$ for the alignment.

Ask the mechanic to have a good look at the lower arm bushings. Mine ended up being bad as well so instead of buying lower ball joints, I would have been better off replacing the whole LCA as I have done with the UCA... Now I have 2 nnew lower Ball joints, and I have to buy LCA's anyhow.

My 2 cents.

We just did the shocks with KYB MonoMax and front stabilizer bar bushings and end links on the 2002 with 111K miles we just bought. It does need all ball joints, 8 bushings and tie rod ends before it is aligned. They are still safe but have a lot of wear. I think the worn shocks may have caused more wear since they offer no resistance to compress them after they were removed. The ride is great now but I want new tires before winter.
