So bought new bulbs from Jeremy over at Retroshop. Unbelievable customer service and great info for this noob. Driver side is still out so must be the ballast is shot. Been trying to do my research but was hoping for a more definitive answer. Any reason to go 55w over my original 35? More output but less useable light is what I’ve kinda come across. Not to mention shorter bulb life. Also, XB or Hylux? Both need canbus adapters? Thanks y’all!

To start if switch ballast and bulbs around from the passenger side to the driver side and pinpoint if it’s the bulb or ballast causing the issue first before just going out and buying new ballast. Truthfully 35w Watts is plenty for a everyday driver... 55w well it’s starts becoming to much not to mention cuts the bulb life/ballast lifespan down then there’s the added risk of burning your bowls. Out of curiosity is are you which headlights are you running. Hylux are excellent ballast and been around forever. XB are also good and TRS customer services is great as well. If your wanting more output when you use your high beams (if they’re the projector style headlights) you can also get a set of TRS Profile ballast where you can switch from 35w to 50w when you switch on the high beam. I’ve used and have all 3 Ballast :(

Word. yep I wouldn’t risk 50w you’ll burn those stock bowls before to long. I stick with either the Profile Powerhouse ballast aka when you hit the high beam they’ll be 50w and seeing as you general won’t have your high beams on for to long shouldn’t burn your projector bowls right away. I like the Hylux ballast more then the Morimotos but the Morimotos are still a good buy.
