Ok, so engine is stock, exhaust is stock. I'm wanting more performance of course, and I do NOT want to tune the truck. Here's what I have in mind so far:

Flowmaster 50 series HD muffler only
Magnaflow y pipe
port/polish throttle body
at first oil change, swap everything to Royal Purple (engine, trans, differential)

A couple questions though...

Would it be beneficial to add LubeGard at around 5000 miles to the trans? I know that stuff actually works for other vehicles.

How do I do the custom ram air? I see this Volant air tube, but is that what that is? The write ups I've seen aren't really that great for explaining how to do the ram air. I will be keeping the stock box and filter, but have no problem modifying it.
http://volant.com/edetail.asp?ID=1320

Any other ideas? I will eventually be supercharging the truck down the road, so that's why a tune is no biggie to me right now, plus it seems there's realllllllly not much gain.

You will gain more from a tuner alone than you will gain from everything else on your list combined. My advise is to go straight to the tuner. The supercharger is going to require a Diablo tuner anyways, so it is beneficial to start with that now. A custom tune is the single best bang for buck mod you can do to your truck.

That's true in most cases, but I heard it's only like 20hp and basically no torque, and also it does absolutely nothing with the transmission or anything else. Do you know what all it changes, or how it affects numbers or driveability?

I am also wary of how it will affect the longevity of the drivetrain too, since the truck has 800 miles of a 100,000 mile warranty. The dealers know you have modified the truck whether you return it to stock before you bring it in or not. So, if the added strain creates an issue, and they see you have modified the truck like that, it gives them the option to not cover it under warranty, which they don't like warranty work anyways because they don't get paid near as much.

Well, good, sounds like you already have the answers you seek. Enjoy your untuned truck, and I will continue to thoroughly enjoy my tuned one. If you ever get to Texas post up on here and I will meet you somewhere and let you drive my truck with and without the tune in it and you will see just how big of a difference it makes. Truly night and day difference. My truck shifts better, too, btw.

I understand the warranty concern and I would be weary too. "luckily", I don't have to worry about that and bought my first tuner for my 2009 4.7 and it's made the world of difference. increased MPG, acceleration, shift, everything. It's a completely different truck and what everyone and their dog has recommended so as long as you don't rag it out or mess with it too much, you should be just fine. Everyone wouldn't recommend one if it really decreased the longevity to a noticeable amount. Look into Hemifever. Has his own website. He sells custom tunes already installed on a diablo tuner and heard they're one of the best for the 5.7 hemi.... if only I had a Hemi...

Well then you don't have the 8 speed trans. I emailed the guy at Hemifever and he said they don't do anything with the 8 speeds. One of my favorite things when tuning was crisp shifts, but not for me on this truck apparently. Also, I am very familiar with tunes, and what all they do for other vehicles.

Are there any dyno results for a 2014 5.7?

What is actually different as far as driveability?

The Hemifever custom tuning is putting down gains of 30-35hp/tq to the rear wheels. You are correct in that there is no trans tuning available yet for the 8 speed, but it is still without a doubt the best bang for buck mod you can buy for your truck. Most of our 2014 8 speed customers are dropping .5-.6 in the 1/4 mile from the Hemifever tuning alone.

Get a tune and find out. A tune on the 8spd is night and day even without trans tuning. Youve been advised that its your best bang for your buck mod yet you refute that.

Go read the COUNTLESS thread on tuning.

Also removing the clutch fan is a great free mod since your truck has a factory efan. You need a Diablo programmer to set the temperature trigger though.

Wait, what?

Are you saying we can remove the clutch fan and the A/C fan will act as both as long as you tune it too?? It flows enough??

Yes, people have been doing it for a few years now. Only reason most choose the V6 fan is for the cleaner look.

V6 fan is also 3" bigger and offers better cooling than the stock AC condenser fan though. I do know guys that have been fine running just the condenser fan, but its not worth the risk of overheating IMO. As cheap as the V6 fan is, its worth upgrading.

Tyc #622320

Just beware of broken mounting tabs when it comes in. We had to stop selling them because more than half of them came in with broken tabs.

Order the TYC off Amazon w/ Prime. 2 day shipping and if a tab is broken, they will give you a pre-paid label and ship a new one to you. I had a broken tab on mine and they replaced without an issue. Left the broken tab one on with a ziptie for 2 days. The swap is super easy once the clutch fan is removed.

Also, the v6 e-fan is great even in hot weather. It handled the hot Vegas summer on my 2010 without an issue. Beware that on the '13-'14, using the V6 efan from the previous years (I dont think anyone has found a '13-'14 part in the wild) will require you to extend the harness wires by about 6". Not a big deal and you can tape it up to look factory once done.

Honestly...Vararam intake is good. But Put Longtube headers and Get the Hemifever Tune...completely changed my truck. All my friends that used to pull 1-2 cars on me I now pull 2-3 cars on them. But like stated, the custom tune will be better than a muffler (no gain there really) and an intake (enough to tell, but not anything special)...the Diablo Trinity wasn't that much of an improvement until Hemifever tuned it!
