Few potential issues...anyone chime in if you know the answers...
1. I looked up this part number, and cross-checked it on a 2015, since that is what my 1500 5.7l is. The part number given here matches for a 1500 Ecodiesel up to 1-14-15. Different part number, and $10 more, for a build date 1-15-15 and later. (68292879AA)
2. The pictures show the ecodiesel box is a little smaller than the 5.7 box. Any fitment issues?
3. I'm ordering from MyMoparParts.com, and they are asking for a VIN. Anyone had a dealer that wouldn't ship without a matching ecodiesel VIN? It's the weekend, so I'm waiting for a response on Monday. Hopefully they'll ship without any worry.
I have the VARARAM on my truck right now, but don't like it because when I take the filter off, there is dust on the plastic housing, and I'm sure some is getting in the engine, so it's coming off. I think it's funny how we all get excited about a CAI, which stands for Cold Air Induction. All of our trucks have that LOL. It gets air from the fender, and not hot air from the engine. So many aftermarket "CAI's" are actually NOT true CAI's because they don't totally isolate the hot air from the engine compartment. The VARARAM is one of the few that does, but I don't like the dust behind the filter.
I was just going to put the OEM box back on, but I like this mod, so I'm going to try it.
Aftermarket "CAI's" should be called Hi-Flow intakes. But even then, they aren't needed unless a lot of other mods are done to require more air. I plan on doing a mild cam and new lifters. I already have long tube headers, larger TB, and a tuner, and don't think I really need any more air than what this ecodiesel mod will provide.
Thanks for the info!
