So I found a website where you can enter your vin, and get a copy of your car's original build sheet. It was only $5 for 5, so I thought, what the heck. So far, each seemed really accurate, and it was interesting (to me; my wife just rolled her eyes when I tried explaining). But when I put in my truck ('11 quad cab), and scrolled through, everything seemed spot on until I noticed 32 gallon gas tank. I know it's not 32 gallon- not sure what standard is, 22? So either an error (at 5 for 5, perhaps you get what you pay for), or is it possible the truck was ordered with a 32 gallon tank, and it wasn't built right? I'm the second owner, since February 2012.

Naw, I've had my wife roll her eyes at me too. At least I didn't ask him to send me $5 whereupon he'd get another rolling of the eyes from the Mrs!

The good news is there is hope for all the younger guys out there. The new model wives all roll their eyes but that all stops once they become a classic model (20+ years of wedded bliss)...at that point they just shake their head and walk off muttering...

On a 2011 1500 with the HEMI, the Ram body builder spec lists the following specs:

8 ft box = 35 gallons

6 ft box = 26 gallons

6 ft box optional = 34 gallons

I just got my build sheet from dodge, and it also indicates optional 32 gallon tank. Interestingly I've since researched other threads that suggest the gas gauge and dte indicator can be misleading... So on the rare occasions I think I'm almost empty , and it takes 25 gallons to fill it, there might actually still have been 6 or 7 gallons left.
Pretty weird to think that a truck I've owned for almost 7 years has had a 32 gallon tank and I didn't know it!

If you don't have anything to do this afternoon and this evening, you can read the ba-gillion threads about the "I can't get more than 20 something gallons in my 32 gallon tank, even after I drove 500 miles on empty. There are also a couple thread that say something to the effect, when your gauge gets to about a quarter of a tank why don't you just stop for gas.
