2011 ram failed at 170k And then again at 200k but that was due to 1 defective lifter btw NEVER EVER buy enginetech lifters from rock auto the roller broke and half and fell off they also would not stand behind their product when it was a clear part failure. I got away with only replacing lifters even tho it damaged 1 lobe a bit shes still runnin at 210k 'knocks wood' .

Dig the idea! For those that vote yes, if they wouldn't mind sharing. Type of oil they used, how many miles when they failed and maybe even type of driving they did? Highway vs City and idle hours?

If you guys have watched my channel at all, you know it is a hard YES for me at 103,000 mi.
As I think this is a great idea, it's not going to get a true number. I know hundreds of people on my channel have told me they've had this problem and they're not on this forum...
But I'm very interested to see the outcome of this!
Oh yeah and another side note, this did not end in 2017, when Ram/Chrysler/Dodge alluded to fixing the problem, without admitting to a problem...... I've had guys on my channel that have told me as new as 2020 classic 5.7 Hemis had to replace lifters and camshafts. Luckily for them still under warranty.
Sorry for being so long-winded this is semi-triggering for me because it cost me almost $7,000 out of my own pocket.
SORRY, I COULDN'T JUST STOP AT YES OR NO....
Anyways to leave on a positive note, I still love my damn truck! [emoji849]

Yes at 175,000 miles. $3,800 for lifters and cam with labor. Currently 235,000 and all is ok

I said no because it's not confirmed yet, but have had a misfire on #5 that coils & plugs haven't fixed. My appointment with the dealer is in just over a week.

Ram has sold more than one-half million pickup trucks a year for the last 4-5 years, although not all with the 5.7 engine.

Yeah I hope to "Get Some Numbers" that I can emblazon on a solid gold placard mounted to a deep space probe so billions of years from now a spacefaring civilization will find it and know exactly how many hemi engines have had cam failure and what oil they were running.

I don’t see the point they know about it and the aren’t going to fix it. Takes too much money to change the assembly and redesign. They fix it within warranty and put out some remotely related Tsb’s and roll the dice with the rest of them. So far 2 out your answers said they got 170k plus before issues, I wouldn’t say that’s bad at all. **** back when we were running around racing 75k was a lot of miles to have on your car and by 100k everything had blow by, gasket leaks and burned oil like a Farmall tractor.

Yes. 2011 2500 5.7. 110k but over 11k hours on engine. Was my work truck, but bought for good price. Grabbed a junkyard motor with 40k on it so hoping no troubles for 30-40k.

Our first Ram (2013) ate the cam at 185,000 miles. Always ran Mobil 1 and changed oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles. Dealer replaced the cam and lifters and we put another 10,000 miles on it before trading for a new 2019 Ram 1500 Classic with 5.7L. We have about 7,500 miles on the new one. We were very happy with the 2013. Until the cam went south it never broke down. It had the 3.91 limited slip rear gears and ran like a scalded ape. Only reason we traded it was because I'm planning on retiring this year and I told the wife she could get a new one now while I'm still working or she'd have to keep the old one until we died.

2016 ram 1500. Mine is going under the knife on Wednesday. 130k miles is when It started. Always changed my oil around 7k miles with Castrol edge full full synthetic 5w-20 and a K&N oil filter.
I put mostly highway miles in the past 3 years of ownership with some towing of my 6000 lb travel trailer mixed in. I drive approximately 40k miles a year

2014 cam failed at 145k, owned truck since 12 miles on the odometer, alawys seviced on time with correct weight and grade synthetic oil and mopar filters, cylinder 5 is where my cam failure happened

Note to file - even though this is a non-scientific (inaccurate) poll, likely skewed high due to bias toward those with failures more likely to respond and a group of truck enthusiast, the voting to date is

I hate to see at this time that it is 22% have failed but like has been pointed out what are the real numbers of the hemis built to the ones that have failed?
