Being retired and along with being bored the last few days I decided to take the truck for a drive in a nice snow storm with the temps sitting a 0F. I went a hour west of town and thought what a great day to climb a mountain (with the truck), the snow averaged 1foot up to 1 1/2 feet deep and only once did I have to rock the truck which required me doing this twice to get unstuck. Don't ask but a camper that was stuck at the bottom along with an Astro van impeded my progress hence the coming to a stop and then the stuck situation happened.

Anywho after much fun along with a couple of nice pics I headed back to town and this is were the lame brain came into being. I turned of the 4wd a mile or two from home which ended up costing me. I hit a patch of black ice rounding a corner and boom the front end of the truck hit a sign post and knocked it down to a 60 degree angle. If only I had another foot tops I would have avoided the cracked (6") spoiler and a slight dent/blemish on the bumper. I have an appointment on my birthday to get an estimate but I expect it will cost between 1k-2k to repair this small bump. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:buffer::crazy::naughty::flipthebird::puke: Oh I will again not use insurance as the damage is so small.

Sorry friend,i hope the cost of repairs is lower than you think. Are you going to look @ salavage parts? I have seen some online in different places.

Well, that sucks, but theres no way I'd go for a joy ride in a snow storm. Too many variables. That being said, I'm out every time it snows to do my plowing route. I worry more about the other idiots on the roads than me messing up tho.

I guess I am lazy and will pay the freight for a factory bumper, that's why I expect the number to be close to 2k. :favorites13:

Again I am sorry to hear.
Bright side of the whole mess is you didn't do any structural damage to your rig. I'm caught between the great looks of my truck and changing my front bumper to a heavy steel beast. I suppose you are also considering you're willing to pay upwards of 2k for factory versus something more "durable " ....

Here is a pic of a bumper I just put on my express. I only paid about $1050 for the bumper shipped to my door. And it bolted on easy and looks great. Also it's about $100 cheaper if you get just the bumper without the push bar

They use scientists and mathematicians to ponder for years to figure out the spots that anyone going off the road might hit objects, then place them there.

it's a conspiracy to keep mechanics in business and insurance rates high

Taking the Lord's' name in vain won't help...

just to change my own subject, I'm not sure taking the Lords name in vain helps/hurts or well anyways. My God fearing brother in law at the ripe age of 44 has had two bouts of cancer and they finally chopped off his ******, I hope for the sake of his 4 children (the oldest is 14) the Lord helps him out. Then their's my God fearing sister in law who at the age of 48 is recovering from a massive stroke that left her paralyzed completely on the left side.

With that kind of help I can do without the Lord thanks:favorites13:
