so I bit the bullet and got a shop to put my lifters in because I have never done it before and was nervous.
Yes yes lifters are on back order (OE) so they used aftermarket.
Well the ticking only went away for for about a day and it’s back now. The mech went in and took it all apart again and checked for metal etc and says everything looks fine, just that horrid ticking! I drive a lot, 240,000 km on my 2014. I am worried about my cam shaft getting destroyed. We are waiting on the OE lifters to replace. Anyone have any experience with these???

so did you ask the mechanic why after replacing lifters it would still be ticking? i'm confused. if it was lifters and aftermarket were compatible, shouldn't that fix the problem if that was the issue? somethings off here.

when i replaced my lifters/cam it was pre noisy for a bit has to wear in make sure u use redline oil or at least mobile 1. Did the mechanic check the cam? sometimes when lifters go the cam is shot aswell thats why we all replace both at the same time its not to hard to do. Overall this is a noisy motor mine still sounds like a sewing machine when you first fire it up and has a faint tap when warm its normal. You should record a vid of noise and post it here.

It’s a hydraulic roller cam. There’s no break in required.

Was the lifter roller damaged? With that many km I’d be suspicious one of the cam lobes are worn down.

I had my lifters replaced by ram a few weeks ago. My truck had a tick when hot that was not manifold bolt related and they tore it apart. Since my truck had 62k miles they assured me the cam was fine and had not suffered any damage yet. I even asked if I bought a new stock cam if they would just replace it while the truck was apart and the service manager assured me the cam was fine and he wouldn’t recommend shelling money out for something the truck didn’t need. My truck has not had any signs of the old ticking noise and everything seems to be running well. I only have about 6-700 miles since the work was done but it seems replacing the lifter banks worked for now. For what it’s worth I did not have to wait on any back ordered parts, I had the truck back within a week.
