Received my HBS 2.5" levelling kit, shopped around for install + alignment and surprisingly the dealer was the cheapest after checking with firestone and a few other shops.

Took it in this morning, and the tech called me over and showed me the ball joints and said, "these will pop if I install the levelling kit, and if they pop while you're on the highway or so, I'm liable and may lose my license". He said he can't install the level. I told him that I was aware that this problem affected 2013s and up, however the 2010 had enough range of motion.

He said that the ball joints will pop on mine as well, citing his as source, but his is a 2013.

I'm confused, I know I can take it elsewhere but has anyone with pre-2012's had their ball joints pop??

edit: truck is 2010, 4x4, 3.55

I have a 2011 Outdoorsman with a 2" kit. That puts me at 2.7" over stock, and in the ballpark of those with Bilstein's at 2.8.

I don't have any issues, and I don't know of many people with the Bilstein's that do either.

You should be fine. I have about 12k trouble free miles on mine.

I'm 2010 4x4 Sport with Bilstein's set at 2.8". No popping here, though I have the CV axel vibration in 4WD mode.

It kills me that so many Ram owners know more about the truck than the dealerships selling them or the service guys that work on them. :doh2:

it does seem that way to me and it is kind of sad.

update:had the kit installed and truck aligned at firestone. it doesnt feel any different, except it looks a lot nicer. i know its still early but the balljoints didnt pop out at all after install like the tech said they would.

thanks again for the confidence boost my brothers.

The dealer probably just saw the bulletin that Dodge put out about the 2013-14 Rams and they decided that they wouldn't install anymore on any fourth generation Rams.

you're probably right, I dont blame the tech though. I wouldnt wanna jeopardize my career over something like that either..thats why I didnt push him. He was cool about it.

Exactly! Take it back and show him so he will know for himself in the future for other customers. I have had Bilsteins set at 2.1'' for 45,000 miles with no issues and before the shocks I had dealer installed spacer / level for 20,000 miles the truck with zero problems. 2012 model
