Redline oil has put a stop to my Hemi tick that I was having and I believe the engine runs a lot quieter also. It's Redline for me from now on!
I just put redline 10-40 full synthetic in my truck, first time since I’ve owned that it did not have a half second engine tap on start up after sitting a while. I am amazed. Redline now has a new customer for life.
no more tick, and runs smother than 0-40 SRT oil.
Join the club Big L, if I might be so bold as to make a recommendation, consider 5w40 instead of the 10w40, it is a base oil thing. NOACK and HTHS are the ultimate measure of hot performance, and ccs and pour points is the ultimate measure in cold performance, and cSt is the ultimate measure of operating temps. As you can see, 5w40 and 10w40 have the same exact measure of viscosity for hot performance noack and hths, however 5w40 has better cooler properties and 5w40 is a little thicker at operating temps. It mirrors guys on the board who have ran both like @U&A , 5w40 will be better at everything. Especially since your issue was start up, 5w40 will lubricate faster. Viscosity index tells you which has better base oil same brand.

Fwiw the lubegard + pennzoil platinum has been working very well for me so far, i hear other 5.7s that cant be much older than mine chattering away at startup and such, mine is quiet as a mouse so id reccomend that heavily@Jtblackram found an article that needs to be in these additive threads, both additives or oils with additives. The conclusion of this expert is that the low additive api oils we use itself is the cause of hemi tick, or at a minimum is a part of it. I put in syn thread but you know how stuff gets lost over there. This should encourage more additive testing for hemi tick. If you needed more validation for a reason to run Redline oil, or poor man's redline aka lubegard biotech, this would certainly be the proof you needed. I mean on top of the work done on ram forum with the %'s of success and long term uoa's, it would be hard to conclude that random shelf oils are good enough for the hemi.
I am to the point where it would be irresponsible for ram owners to not use one of those two products, or perhaps another similar product that has eluded us to this point. The fella said lack of additives, and you add that opinion to the success rate of those who add more additives, just makes this hemi tick picture crystal clear.

I just switched from Mobil 1 5W20 to Redline 5W20. I used to get the tick and lifter noise on start up that would usually clear up pretty quick. Since switching to Redline truck starts up with no lifter noise at all.
It really confuses me why no one would believe that redline kills a tick
Funny thing nobody but us believes you so you better just hang out at ram forum from here on out. How it is possible that the same viscosity oil kills a tick that the other oil had? Just more proof it is the additives. Keep us updated, and at some point you might want to come over to hemi honey 5w30 redline. Congrats...
