DIY 5.0 to 8.4 Navigation upgrade

A couple questions. I know this is a little off the thread topic, but this seems to be where the knowledge is...

I have an 8.4A with MTC and 7 speed fan. I'm considering picking up a spare bezel to modify to hold a removable tablet.

1. Is the heater control module easily removable from the bezel? It looks like just 5 torx fasteners.

2. Will the ATC control/bezel work as a direct replacement for MTC control/bezel? (other than non functional passenger side temp up/down buttons and auto button)

I tried taking the controls out of a bezel and even after removing those screws it would not budge. There must be a way but I did not want to break it. Yes the atc bezel will work fine just no atc or separate temp controls as you stated.

The knobs have to come off first. They are a major ***** to remove though. I swapped knobs and such from bezel to bezel a while back.

Free Trial for those with Expired Uconnect Access

Would this do anything for me with an RA2 5.0?

Nope and even if it did they would not let you or us in anyway.

One thing I saw recently and not sure what to make of it was a 2016 truck with a RA2 radio and the online window sticker
said free trial Via mobile apps. Maybe the 2016 RA2 radios have uconnect capability?
The uconnect list of features by radio does not yet list the 2016 models, got me curious. Still can't believe a company builds
a vehicle around the radio?

Well useless connect definitely did something. Not only did I loose the ability to use Pandora and Slacker, I also lost Yelp. All three say something to the effect your subscription has expired go to the uconnect store to renew. I think they actually may have sent a push out thru the cellular network to do this, just a theory.

I have not tried it yet but am wondering if I lost messaging as well, since I have an I phone it only received them anyway and on in real time.

Going to check to see what else I lost and update here:

1. Pandora
2. Slacker
3. Yelp

Anyone else loose anything?

I heard they were doing a free preview for Uconnect this week...Do you think that since the promo was over they just automatically turned everyone off who may have been getting it that didn't have a subscription? The only thing I would love to have is the voice texting. I can just use my phone for pretty much everything else.

Got my new Temp Control module yesterday and got everything buttoned up tonight. AC is blowing cold (although unnecessary at the moment). New bezzle is on and everything is working as it should! Finally.

yep fiat has designed a system wrapped around the 8.4 named 5.0 u connect stated they dropped ra2 designation has ac controls tom tom etc im sure apps too

Ordered a 2014 8.4AN (RA4/VP4 NA, 68224525AH) today for my upgrade off of eBay for $420 (they had 3. Sold quickly).

Supposedly came out of a Chrysler 200. Hopefully it works without issue and gets to my house in Va by the time I get home for vacation.
