Boy, did I get the most horrible rubber hot smell for a bit, must be the oil and gaskets heating up.

No smoke and no puddles under the truck, either. HOORAY!!!

When I hook up my code reader, I get a permanent code for the P0201. If I reset it, the code is still there.

Does it take some drive cycles to erase It?

It might go out with a few drive cycles,if the trucks not misfiring,i wouldn't worry to much about it Ed.
Glad it was an easy fix and she's up and running for you now.

No, not misfiring. Actually running smooth I think.

I don't have a video of the startup after reversing those plugs, but do have one of it idling after warming up for about 30 minutes. Will upload it later.

Oh, BTW, the wire colors in the FSM are not correct.

The injector harness has a red/white stripe and a brown/yellow stripe wire

The alternator plug has a solid red and a solid brown wire.

I might have been looking at the wrong thing in the FSM, too.

My Nephew has an '18 Ram 1500 and his harness colors matched mine.

Yea, permanent codes can't be cleared with a scan tool. After several drive cycles without recurring, it will clear itself.

Thank you, Ken

I still have a bunch of stuff to do to the girl, but I'm ecstatic that she's running. So happy! I need to win the Lotto or Powerball now.......lol

Thank you, Ken

Went for a drive yet?

After a decent length drive cycle or two, those readiness monitors will turn from red to green as each test is completed successfully.

Until then, there is still a small possibility that some pinched wire or damaged sensor will rear it's ugly head when the PCM attempts those monitor tests.

No, still putting the shrouds, grille, and wheels on. Maybe in about 30 minutes, I will.

I'm relatively confident that nothing is pinched, I had the harness tied back to the wiper arm, until the heads were on and torqued, before I reinstalled the intake manifold.

Fingers crossed

Just hope my plug dyslexia didn't F U B A R something.

You'll probably be ok.

Since it didn't pop smoke immediately, you probably had the injector power supply feeding into the alternators field signal input. I doubt that it did any harm.

A quick look at the wiring diagram for the alternator should tell you what was connected to what.

Ok guys, I might have screwed the pooch.

I AM SOFA KING STUPID

That harness that was "short" for the alternator
Might have been the injector plug reversed with it.

That being said, I'm hoping that it it didnt plug on fully or else I believe I would have worse problems.

The color codes of the wires do not match with what I have from the FSM

And the plugs fit with no stretch on the alternator.

Hope I didn't f*ck up the PCM

Gonna check my wire paths.
Good catch and incredible work ED!

I ran it about 10 minutes, had a low tire, couldn't see anything in it, aired it up.

Only got to go about 35 on a couple streets by my house, will take it to church tomorrow, about 25 miles away.

I havent driven her in so long, she seems sluggish, but I know it's just me. No check engine light, good oil pressure too. Was gonna change this oil right away, but will run it tomorrow and maybe monday, that'll be 100 miles roughly.

Make sure you change oil/filter now that you've drove it around the block a few times, then i'd change it again in about 500 miles Ed. If it didn't set any codes driving it around the block, you're probably good now,
Cleaning all the carbon off the pistons and heads probably dropped the compression a bit,and she lost a bit of power, lol.Just kidding :waytogo: :Big Laugh:
After you get fresh oil into the ole gal, don't be scared to give it a good hard run ,to reset the adaptives.
Roller cams don't need no break-in,but they do need some good splash lubrication off the crank, and the only way that happens,is if you drive the hell outta it,pretend you're 16 again, driving the old mans truck:Big Laugh:

Will I be ok, doing it tomorrow?

It'll have about 50 miles or so on it by tomorrow afternoon, and it'll be good and warm. Plus, I need another qt. of cheap oil, I came up a little short, not sure why, maybe my lazy eye.....lol.

I will have the video of it warmed up in the shop posted in about 30 minutes.

That'll work,i like changing the first change after about 5 miles of driving, but 50 isn't to bad, especially considering you had the pan off,so you won't have any residual anti-freeze in the pan.
That's the only reason i change the oil after a short drive,is to get all the anti-freeze out of the pan,but you circumvented that by having the pan off and cleaning it.

I had the block drains out too.

She took almost 4 gallons of coolant as well, by the time I added to the reservoir, not sure if I had a qt. left. I did spill a little, too.

I think that's why I'm a little short on the oil, a bit of spillage, and what ran out when I unhooked my garden sprayer oil primer setup.

Run it a bit overfull from now on Ed,a 1/2 quart past full doesn't hurt a hemi.
