Try driving in Texas, especially on the big highways. If you're going the speed limit, you're a road hazard. Going slower than everyone else is just as bad as going faster than everyone else.
I agree with you. Most of the accidents that happen are because of a slow driver. They hold up traffic and may be the cause of pile ups farther back in the rear. 99% of the faster drivers are more aware of their surroundings and are more alert. Yes, there's always that "one" guy/ gal who isn't paying attention, whether they're on their phone or just not facing the road.
With all the years I've driven, I've never been in a wreck. Just a fender bender during a pile up caused by a slower driver during rush hour traffic. One car stopped in front of me because one car stopped in front of her which had another car stopped in front of him. I hit the brakes, turned the wheel and bumped the corner of my car with her rear bumper. The car behind me stopped in time but that caused another pile up. A big mess. Thankfully, no one was severely injured.
So do they work? Sure but some might have false signals, like going off near motion detector doors like when you drive by the entrance at Wal-Mart. I just don't see paying a couple hundred of dollars when you can save that money to use on your truck to make it better rather than being aware of speed and your surroundings. If you do get one, just hope that it can alert you way before the cop clocks your speed. Otherwise, you've wasted more money from the radar and now ticket.
I've had one, I think some states gives you a ticket for having one and they're not allowed in federal government/ military posts and bases.
Save your money, brother man.
