So I just tried putting pb blaster on my door hinges after they started making noise. Drivers side is only issue. Ow I think but the bearing isn’t rolling and I’m assuming it had to do with a windy day where the door caught it and basically over extended? Any ideas on what to try?

Frequent, lubrication. In my experience they are just noisy...someone did find a bushing of sorts to fix the problem for them. I bought one at Lowes but I couldn't get it to stay put.

If I can find the thread with the fix I'll post it here.

I would very much appreciate it lol I just started having the creak come back after almost a year of not doing it. I used WD-40 last time

My issue is that wind caught door and it flew back wrong way. I think it’s gotten a little better but when door is all the way open that’s when I still hear binding. It’s almost like when it start on that stepped piece it’s moving that bearing toward the body. Maybe I got pb blaster on the roller and it’s just sliding not actually spinning.

Bump….

So I have tried pb blaster. Looks like the dealer did lithium grade at some point, but driver side is binding. The roller was frozen for a bit and is at least moving now. What I can’t understand is on the passenger side. The roller isn’t all the way at the top of the pin. On both doors on the drivers side it is so not sure why it’s going all the way to top this making the creaking. I have tried everything for the most part. When it was froze to the pint it wouldn’t move, it would just slide along the steps on the arm and not even roll. Maybe it’s just time for a new hinge.

Maybe it’s just time for a new one I don’t know what my gf and her daughter do getting in and out of truck.

Do they still sell that stuff?

I don't think it is available in an organic version, or is it? LOL

.
There's always a couple spray bombs of it on my wifes stove,so i'm guessing yup, lol.
I also use it at the track, spray the wheel wells down and 1/4 panels with it,and clean up at the carwash is alot easier the next day.I'm a bit an&l about keeping the rubber off from water box burn-outs,and it helps clean-up :waytogo:

WD40 is for light duty loosening stuff up or cleaning off light surface rust, but looses lube properties quite quickly and dries out. PB Blaster, Kroll and other known HD penetrants, for heavy duty use. Then follow with a lubricant such as silicone or white lithium grease.

The old school homemade mix of 50/50 Acetone and Transmission fluid is still one of the best and cheapest penetrating fluids, although the early versions of the mix were made when transmission fluid still had whale/sp$rm oils in them

I put a couple drops of 3-in-1 on the screw, and worked the door back and forth like 6 months ago I think, and it's been nice and quiet for me since.

Pam also works good on bumpers and grills to make washing bugs off a whole bunch easier too.

Never used Pam as a lube, Chain Lube or Silicone, depending on the application are my go tos. WD40 for getting rid of rust, water etc, but it is a poor lube and gums up quicly. For hinges I lube them often and tend to use Silicone as it doesn't attract dust and dirt. That and over spray on the rubber parts and door seals is good for them and doesn't hurt anything.

I just tried on blaster again other day and tonight. The pin was seized so it’s at least moving right now but it sounds like a model T when I open it. Bout ready to lose my mind any other ideas guys? Could it be out of whack? I know I’ve told me gf and her daughter to be careful with the doors when getting out on uneven ground or windy day. But I also let them use truck and as not always around so don’t know if they driver side over extended. It’s obviously the one that gets used rhe most too. I just know dealer would prob do white lithium and maybe I need to try that because silicone isn’t working.

Take the truck to a good body shop. They have a lot of experience dealing with tweaked doors hinges etc. I bet they can fix the issue in under an hour because they know exactly what they are looking at.
