I’ve got a 20 1500 /5.7 with the e-tech. I’ve got a appointment to return it for a service call to check it out but though I’d check with you all first. Everything was working great until last week. Now the thing won’t shut off at a stoplight like before. I’ve tried the button that kills the features. started with the remote control to check if that effects it. Nothing. Has anyone else’s truck done this

If your talking about the e-Torque system not turning the engine off at a stop, there is several reasons why it doesn't. Some of them included battery charge, and air conditioning demand (even the windshield defroster runs the AC).

Hmmm never thought about that. Thanks.
I'm offering a friendly reminder so please don't take it wrong - read the owners manual and you'll see when the eTorque system will not engage (unbuckled seat belt, A/C running hard to cool the interior, etc.). It may save you the aggregation of going to the dealer and them having your truck for a day or two (or four) only to tell you they can't duplicate the issue. You are your own best advocate and sometimes a little reading can save you a trip or make you a more informed owner than the dealership. I'm guilty of it too...

Thanks. I never knew all that would shut it down. Guess it’s time to read the Bible The pull on the battery makes sense though. All my previous vehicles never had this kind of technology on them,so everything is a learning experience for me. I do appreciate everyone for there information on this vehicle

Interesting, my wife's Cherokee never shut down due to the A.C. Running, even in 100F when down in Florida.

Well. After trying everything electrical that would shut it down and what wouldn’t. The air conditioning is my culprit. Guess it wants to keep consistent temperatures going in the cabin. Live and learn. I did look at the manual after I asked what I didn’t know.

Reminds me of the old VCRs which were new technology when they came out. We never read the manual, just insert the movie cassette into the unit and enjoy. But God forbid when I had to reset the time every spring and fall...;) The world stood still until I could find the manual to reset the time.

Imagine that, our Rams are now the high tech VCRs of the world!

If you scroll through the menu on the cluster to the stop/start section. It will display the current stop/start status.

It will read “Stop/Start Ready” if all requirements are met.

If a requirement isn’t met it will display the reason why. Such as Cabin heating/cooling, battery charging, engine to cold etc.

If there is a failure you’ll get a service stop start message in the cluster.

My 2018 Ram Rebel never shut off like the 2021 E Torque 5.7.
I am sorry I traded it in for the 2021.
Wish mine didn’t have this crazy shut off.
I keep forgetting to push the button to shut the damn thing off:)

I installed one of these in my 2021 Limited. The only problem now is the start/stop button does not have an LED like the button on my '20 Laramie had. I occasionally enable the stop/start functionality by pushing the button. So I tend to forget if the system is active or not until I stop and then engine shuts down LOL
