I've had my '23 limited for a short while now, and find the on/off feature to be a great benefit in traffic. However, I've found it to be a hindrance in parking situations, where I'm pulling into a spot. Guess I'm just on the cusp of stopped/rolling and the engine cuts - but etorque kicks in when I lift the brake a hair. Are there a tuning/configuration options (AlfaOBD?) that allow a user to set time delay for on/off??

Thanks

Had my 22 Laramie since October. Tried my darnedest to get used to the eTorque and appreciate its so called benefits. I have given up. I just turn the stupid thing off now every time I start the truck.

There is a module you can add so you don't have to manually turn the Engine Start/Stop off every time you start the vehicle:

The eTorque functions can't be turned off with the switch, module or with AlfaOBD.

And that was the best $79 I've spent on any truck LOL

Can the engine braking be turned off on the e torque? When you touch the brake the trans downshifts. I want to coast to a stop sign. Pushing the disable button will not shut off the engine breaking.

The start/stop function can be turned off. And, it stays off until you turn engine off; upon restart simply press button on turn it off.

Reach down to the shift knob and put into neutral. Coast to your hearts content.

There is constant downshifting or engine breaking with the E torque. I find I am putting it into neutral every time I touch the break pedal, them the truck will coast. Turning the start stop off does not change the downshifting. Tow mode is off. Dealer says there is no fix for this.

Here is why you don't want eTorq. It only provides electrical torque in the first 1-3 mph. Won't help pulling a load up a hill for instance. Second, that extra torque just makes for jerky takeoffs. But that's not the big reason. It's true that the motor/generator pulls from the 48V battery for start /stop. But if your regular 12V battery gets too old and the Cold Cranking Amps drops to a certain level it wont work either. Found this out the hard way when I pulled up to a light and the start/stop killed the engine. Took my foot off the brake-motor does not start. Push button wont start it either cause the CCA is too low. Had to sit there for an hour waiting for the tow truck, 15 drivers behind me mad as hell the whole time. Can't really tell any difference in the gas mileage either, with/without. It's an engineering idea that sounds good on paper, but in real world, it's a clusterf**k.

Yes, the eTorque system slows the truck down during compression by using regenerative braking to capture energy. This effect is similar to engine braking and helps to charge the 48-volt battery. It does this rather than simply dissipating the energy as heat, which would happen in a non-hybrid vehicle.
How regenerative braking slows the truck:
  • Coasting: When you lift your foot off the accelerator, the belt-driven motor generator unit (MGU) creates drag to slow the truck.
  • Light braking: When you apply the brakes lightly, the eTorque system further increases this drag, slowing the truck without engaging the conventional brakes.
  • Blended braking: During normal braking, the system combines regenerative braking with the truck's conventional brakes for a smoother and more efficient stop.
