I have a 2013 RAM 1500 5.7 Hemi with 6 speed trans. Today on the way home the engine quit while in traffic while traveling at about 30mph. I coasted to a side street with little effort, power steering was still working for alittle bit. Came to a stop and put the truck in park to try to restart it. I have the push button ignition. Nothing happened other than the 8.4in display went blank when the button was pushed, no tick or any indication the engine wanted to crank over. All other function and indications of the truck seemed normal. On the dash, i had a CEL, and Service Power Steering and, Service Electronic Throttle Control was in the stored messages in the EVIC and would flash their symbols in the lower panel area. I Also noted that the red light next to the gas gauge in the speedometer gauge flashes with the ignition on. When I got the truck home, I checked battery voltage, it indicated 12.4volts. Tried to download the codes, and there weren't any, yet the CEL was till on. I've had not other issues, other than passenger side exhaust manifold bolts. I'm the only owner for the past 5 years. Any thoughts would be appreciated

At 12.4 volts, your battery isn't in great shape. It's probably due for replacement, whether that's the root cause of your issues I don't know though.

I have a 2012 with the same issue. The dealer replace the TIPM, but that didnt do anything to help. The only way I could get it to start after stalling was to either wiggle or unplug and reset the connections on the PCM. While poking around under the hood last weekend, I pushed down on the wire loom feeding the the PCM and I could get it to stall. Other times, by doing the same thing, it would run like **** until i lifted slightly on the loom. For the time, i have tie wrapped the loom to the transmission dipstick tube. At this point it is just a test, but since I have done that, it hasn't stalled. 26a64c05e2de8762be90d0619bcaed43.jpg

After some on line investigation and trouble shooting, I had the truck towed to the dealership today. We'll see what turns up. I suspect the imobilization system is some how involved.

The dealer found a blown 10amp mini fuse in the TIPM. traced that to a chafed wire bundle that had chafed through the wire loom on the oil dipstick tube. A wire had chafed through the insulation and shorted out causing the fuse to blow. A quick easy fix and all is well again.
