Getting a Fob Programmed?

I lost one FOB. Dealer wants $500! WOW! After lots of searching found a local locksmith willing to do it for a very reasonable price. He has no FOBS in stock, said order one on line. i found one on AMAZON. Looks exactly the same. It reads some tech stuff.

"Product parameters: Frequency: 433.92Mhz, FCC ID: OHT-4882056, IC: 5461A-4882056, Chip: 4A, 5 buttons (Remote start, Lock, Unlock, Panic Alarm, Trunk."

How would I find out if this matches my Truck/FOB? Is it marked inside the FOB?

No need for locksmith. Just need jscan and wiring dongle, all described elsewhere on this forum by Jimmy07. Cost is about $125, second fob about $50.

You got lucky, fully 75% of the Amazon FOBS won't program at all and most locksmiths charge whether it works or not if they didn't supply the FOB. First time I bought extra FOBs I tried going the less expensive route. Even places that claim to be selling OEM Fobs cheap, are selling knock offs.

Of those that do program, they have a really high failure rate in short order. Don't wish you any bad luck, but come back in 6 months and tell us how your Amazon FOB is working. I buy factory Ram FOBs from the online Mopar dealers and program it myself, or if I didn't have the gear I would use a locksmith. My time is worth way more than the time I have seen wasted on after market FOBs.

Jimmy07 recommends a particular ebay fob. Mine is working perfect 1.5 years out.
Locksmiths at $125 is low, but good!

I had a fob go bad, local lock smith sold me one and programed it for 129.00 and told mw if i bring bad one to them they try to fix it for free, so I did and now I have 3 perfectly good working fobs for my truck.
NOW to bad part, that locksmith closed due to family emergency,
THEY were great when they were open.

Jimmy is a verified and unsurpassed expert. If he recommends something you can take that to the bank. I would believe him over a ton of other experts.

One of the linked to FOBs and JScan work for me (2015 1500 Laramie; 5.7) a few months ago. Still working as designed at the time of this post.

I bought a recommended fob on eBay and programmed it using JScan. Total cost including the JScan and Security bypass cable is just over a hundred bucks. And if you are already using JScan then only the cost of the fob. Works like the original on my 2021 3500 Longhorn.

There is a site called, replacemyremote.com. The refurbished ones are about $85. I have gotten several from them.
I paid about $60 dollars to get it programmed at my dealer.
