Help! Ticking after lifter and camshaft replacement.

Sorry, I'm not sure.

Like I said, mine had the chipped valve stem and other wear. I ordered new pushrods and valve springs just because of my mileage

I replaced the valves and rockers because of the wear on the end of the arm that contacts the valve spring.

I suppose you could measure the pushrod lengths and see how worn down they are, and also check that the oil hole on them is not peened smaller.

I think the rocker arms ran about $150 each at RockAuto, all the valves was another $600 I think. Plus I hand lapped them as well.

I really hated to drop the coin I did, and I may have replaced some stuff I didnt have to, but I didn't want to have to go back in again.

I did not. Was under the impression they were already soaked from the factory since they were oiled up already.

178k miles. Replaced all lifters, shaft, and oil pump with all mopar parts. Install went smooth, but as soon as I cranked it, it starts ticking. I gave it about 10-15 minutes of running and it still hasn’t gone away. Motor runs a little rough also so I just shut it off. Going to take the valve covers off tomorrow to see. Any other advice? Pulled the plugs because I didn’t do it before. Gonna be replacing them and cranking it up again as soon as I get everything together.

Sorry, was driving and couldn't comment. Some soak their new lifters (I did), some don't.

There's a video from MMX about bleeding the lifters before install (I did this as well).

He does say not to soak the lifters, but I did (for a couple weeks, lol). I did the bleeding before I installed them into the block.

Even though this vid just shows non-MDS lifters, I did ALL of my lifters, MDS and non-MDS.

I didn’t see anything wrong. I just put everything back exactly as I did the first time. The #1 plugs were pretty fouled out though.

Well, that's interesting.

Have heard sometimes new lifters are noisy for a good bit, but mine were quiet. I also presoaked, and bled them. Who knows?.

I've read and asked questions about the pre- soaking....same deal,some say you don't need to,they fill up up pretty fast.
We've run into that here on the dyno,kind of a noisy ticking(these are gm engines)..after a couple starts things quiet down...but until then your like what did I do wrong?
My view on that is ...what's it gonna hurt if I want to soak them anyway?
I'm always gonna pre-soak myself.

My bud had lifters replaced 2 or 3 times in a row by dealership under warranty loaner truck too. Heads once still had the tick. He started lemon law stuff. They bought him out with cash and a new motor not to lemon law it. So he did that and sold. It. Came out ahead money wise but took his time and the pleasure of new truck he thought would be trouble free. If he wanted to work on a truck, he has approximately 6 project trucks from rock crawlers drag cars desert trucks show cars etc.
