My 2017 Ram 5.7 quad cab all stock I averaged 19.5 to 21.0 when I had 20K on her. I now have a 2019 Classic Warlock quad cab all stock and same tires and tire pressure as the last Ram. I am now averaging 15.7 to 17.0 for the same 2 hour trips I make every weekend. The only difference is the truck only has 1200 miles on it and I installed in channel vent visors. I expected a lower average during break in period but not 3 miles less per gallon. These trucks are almost identical except for the vent visors. I am not driving at high elevations either. Thoughts and experiences?

You might want to get rid of those in channel vent visors unless you like replacing your window motors...or so I've been told.

Interesting. That should be its own thread maybe. Never heard that.

Thanks for all the feedback. Unfortunately there doesn't seem like there are too many options to squeeze another 2 MPG to 3 MPG out of her. I will try new gas and maybe adjust my cruising speed, but another poster said it best, "SMILES PER GALLON". I guess owning a Ram with a Hemi should be more about owning a badass truck with a bad ass engine and that is that. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

I have a 2018 Ram 1500 Big Horn with the hemi and no mods. I get 19-20 mpg in city and 21-22 on highway with a little over 14 mpg when towing a 7500 load. If I step hard on gas then I get 17 in city and 19-20 on highway. MDS is still active.

With my 2018 Ram Sport Crew I'm averaging 16 MPG US or 14.7 l/100km since I bought it in November. Bit of light towing, freeway, secondary roads and some City driving.

If just running at freeway speeds (65-70) it runs about 21 MPG US.

Secondary Roads at 50 it runs 23 MPG.

I do a manual calculation on each fill up and it is right around the 16 mpg mark.

The truck has 3.21 gears and a bed cover.

I can't see how anyone gets these bricks running above 20 mpg average unless all highway and no towing.

I am always curious about MPG !
Yes it is a truck and not a Prius lol so we do not expect 30 MPG !
But knowing of MPG may help show us a upcoming problem when we start to see a big drop ! I am pretty impressed with the MPG you Hemi Gals and guys are getting !
My 2015 Pentastar w/3:21 gears gets between 21/22 Hwy at 75 mph and about 20 mpg in town Rural driving. So not a big difference between the 2 :)
But I am happy with my V6 as it does what I want as it is a street queen :) and insurance is low :)

This is the best I've gotten for a 53mile one way trip. Kept hoping it would go to 28 but it never did. Routinely get 27.3 or 27.4 on the same route. The pentastar is amazing!

I have found that discussing MPG is like discussing brands of coffee. Depends on where you are and how you like it. However these trucks do have a way to level the field and provide for much more accurate responses and by that I mean the use of the drive hours vs overall miles on the truck to baseline your driving. It along with general geographic location can provide a better picture.
I know based on my total miles on the truck and the numbers of hours driven that my truck has averaged 30 mph over its 11 months of ownership. I know that locally I get 13-14 hand calculated and that the dash calculation is about 0.5 to 0.7 mpg off, to the high side. Geographically my normal driving does not have a lot of elevation changes, however, long highway drives do more elevation changes as I live in the capital district area of NY and tend to drive the west end of the Mass Pike when going anywhere of distance.
In addition, I am a volunteer with our local fire department, which means it quite often gets asked to perform to its limits accelerating from stop sign to stop sign. (note I do not exceed posted limits as a usual & if I do it's only by 10mph, but I do use the trucks power to launch it to 30 - 35 mph very quickly for calls)

I've been averaging about 22-23mpg of late, but I dropped an mpg or two from the Falken Wildpeaks I put on back in October...

On long highway trips, with my MDS System disabled, i get roughly 19-20
Possibly silly question but how do I know if I have MDS system? Nothing indicates it as I’m driving as far as I can tell.
I was averaging close to 18 mpg on a 300 mile trip on stock Goodyear RSA I put on Wildpeak AT/3 and I’m averaging 15.9 -16.2 on same trip. Stock 5.7 4x4 in 2wd regular gas Long Island to Pennsylvania trip 3-4x a month love the Wildpeaks though
Thanks in advance

When mds kicks in you will feel it truck will vibrate a bit and exhaust/engine sound will change. The second you give it more gas mds will **** off and go back to normal.

your tires are good for a 15 to 2 mph loss did to weight and aggressive tread. Hills and speed determine whether Mrs activated or not.

You have it for sure, when the eco light in your gauge cluster screen goes on that means that you are running on 4 cylinders. When you press the - button on the wheel, then hit the + button until it reaches 8 on that screen, that allows the truck to use the full gear range of the tranny while also making it so the eco light cant come on. Wildpeaks are great, once my goodyears wear down im gonna slap on a set
