Looks nice! I can tell by your control button on your screen that the soft keys for the heated seats and heated steering wheel are not present on your radio. It doesn't make any difference it will work the same either way but if you want those soft keys to be populated your friend can go back in with his tool and set them in the vehicle configuration section.

I'm pretty sure this was asked and answered before, but for some reason I can't find it.
I've installed heated/cooled seats and seats heat works but wheel doesn't, also some times seat heat turns off right away. some times stays on for 5 min and then turns off.

Do you guys have any thoughts?

What year is the truck, and what trim level do you have the 8.4 radio,do the vented seats work?,did you install the correct heated wheel, clockspring and wiring? Sorry for all the questions but if you fill us in a little while we can be more able to help you figure out what might be going on

My truck is SLT and came with 8.4 ra3 radio from the factory. Radio was changed to ra4. All of my parts came from the long horn limited, the clock spring is not an issue, I've checked.. with different clock spring it is the same.
Wiring might be an issue, and I don't know how to check. I didn't change the wiring, but I did compere plugs, and it looked like all of the wiring was in place accept wires that feed the rear seat heating. I still have to add codes, but heat should work without it, right? Do you think this might be an issue?

If your truck did not come with heated seats and wheel originally it will not have the correct clockspring. There is a difference. The heated wheel clockspring has an extra connector to plug into plus an extra wire that plugs into the heated wheel. As far as the wiring goes your truck may not have it. You need to have the Grey plug and the yellow plug to plug into your new drivers seat. This is a picture of the correct wiring for the drivers seat in a truck with heated/vented seats and heated wheel. As you can see the gray plug is populated. If you don't have this wiring to plug into your seats you don't have the correct wiring. If you do have this wiring and you are sure you connected both the gray and yellow plugs in the drivers seat plus the yellow pug in the passenger seat then it is most likely a matter of adding the codes. If you don't have the wiring in the picture you will need to buy a Harness from M2Mods to complete the install. You will need to change your clockspring in order for the heated wheel to work.810ce3e69df3d2439223fb452ae56839.jpg

The clock spring came together with the steering wheel and interior from the long horn limited basically they've sent me everything from the inside of the wrecked truck, even wiring and all of the modules. My thoughts were maybe the clock spring it self was faulty and I switched it to another one. still didn't work. I got the third one tonight and will try my luck tomorrow in the morning again, and yes they are different from the original, all of them have the wire for the heat.

Did your truck end up having the correct wiring? If so it may be matter of needing to add the codes.

It looked like the wiring was there. I guess I'll go ahead and buy the AE tool for this... dealer is not helpful:(

Honestly we are starting to find a lot of issues using the AE tool. I finally got tired of some of my file corruption and took my truck to the dealer and just had it reflashed. You're correct the dealer cannot add your codes. I recommend buying an OBD Genie to install your codes. Unfortunately it cost $299 but you plug it in it automatically Dowloads to your truck and you're done.

Off topic, do you know if it's possible to activate the fold mirrors with AE?
If not, then my only option is OBD Genie

We have turned the codes on with the tool but for some reason they don't work. At this time for the lower trim level trucks that the dealer cannot activate the LER code the OBD Genie is the only option. You will also need the correct door modules and the master switch.

I am starting my Heated Seats and Wheel. Ordered the switch panel with the buttons and got that installed. I just got my seats from a wrecker with heat (big horn cloth). Ordered my wheel from another wrecker and waiting on that to arrive. Just need to get a clock spring ordered and my harness from Deere :peace: I will post pictures when I have it all in and working. This thread and knowledge between all the members is amazing!

Good luck keep us posted on your progress. I recommend purchasing your clock spring new to make sure it is centered properly.

I just ordered my *new* clockspring ($274 highway robbery) This project is extremely expensive kinda wish I would have just ordered the truck with all this stuff lol.

Kinda confused on the wiring from the clock spring to harness i315 (assuming this is where the wires go from the clockspring) Do the tradesman's have the plug already wired at the back of the clockspring just sitting in a blank?

All of the columns are pre wired for the heated wheel Clockspring. You will have the connector sitting in a dummy plug. When you remove steering wheel you will see it. You simply plug it in from there. You will have to make the connection in the plug near the bottom of the steering column where those wires terminate. The harness you get from M2 Mods will be clearly marked where everything goes. It's pretty much a plug and play. Hooking up to the heated wheel harness near the bottom of the steering column is probably hardest part simply because it's hard to get room to work to install the two connectors. If you take your time and read all the posts and instructions you should be fine. If you have any questions just ask one of us will definitely have an answer for you.

Do you have a part # for the correct clockspring for heated wheel?

Thanks.
