My donor was a 2014 Laramie. I wonder why yours did work, you had to lay wires, the whole 9 yards and plugged it in. Something fishy about your BCM. This thread is so deep its hard to judge, has anyone else with a 12-14 Express/Tradesman plug and play the seats and steering wheel like you did?

The 13 and up trucks are different than the 12's. One guy installed heated seats in his 12 that had the wiring and they worked. From what I remember he didn't install the wheel. As far as I know I am the only one to *** my own wiring and have it work with no codes. I am actually the only one to have it work with no codes period with or without running the wires. We haven't done enough trucks yet to see what works with what.

Ooooooooh then it's not us, it's your truck that keeps creating questions! Good to know so far then. It's a weird mix of trucks so far in our data sample. I'm sure something will show up as what will and what will not work without coding.

Well, our trucks are the same year and both were built in Saltillo, so we'll have to see what happens.

Back when I added the factory back up camera kit, I was one of the first ones I know of the kit has just come out. Anyway the parts guy tried to sell me the one in the mirror because I had the RA1 radio. I did not want that one especially since I had just put in the RA2 radio, before we figured out the RA4. Anyway I installed the tail gate handle camera and the short jumper wire with the camera plug on it. I had already had the XAC code added previously. Fortunately it was late and I decided to run the rest of the harness etc another day. To my surprise I went to move the truck and the camera worked lines and all.

Apologize for being so wordy, but how did the truck reroute the camera to the radio that was not even supposed to be in there? Why was my truck PNP minus the XAC code? I have a good feeling mine is all gonna work.

My goal was to replace my seats with power leather, never thought I would be getting the heating or cooling elements to work. The same with the wheel that was to have a leather wheel with audio controls. So what ever I get on top to me is a huge bonus, so I will be happy either way and appreciate the work you guys did on this. Not to mention I will get my auto dim mirror, compass and temp in the radio and possibly my CD player back out of the deal, something the brain dead idiots at the dealership could not figure out.

Check for codes, Ill bet it has the same crazy one mine it said something like improbale heated steering wheel or something like that.

I am definitely surprised that it didn't work. I am curious to see what happens when you add the code. If this seems to be the case with most of the trucks I wonder why mine worked without installing any codes? Makes no sense so far. It may not be a year thing due to the fact that William S. had no success with his heated wheel and his truck is a 14 and so is mine. I think the only difference is that I think his seats were out of a 15 and mine are out of a 14.

Rick, have you ever had your truck flashed at the dealer? How long has it been? Ram Man had the leds working in his door handles and map pockets and took it to the dealer last week to add the backup cam and all of a sudden his leds stopped working. It's almost like some trucks shipped with codes enabled that they shouldn't have and now the build sheets have been updated and actually remove codes when the dealer reflashes. I wonder if you fall into that category.

I have had sales codes added to my truck at the dealer plus I had this side airbag reprogram done on the recall. I am assuming they reflashed it then but I am not sure.

So I cleared the dtc's and that didn't make a difference. The physical button acted the same. I could press the radio button, it would stay on for a few seconds and then turn off. I marked it present in ECU 5 and just like the vented seats it started working. So as of right now, everything works on my truck. Since it is below 40 here, the seats and steering wheel now kicks on automatically when the truck starts.

I can't figure out how to get the comfort settings on the radio, but that doesn't really matter to me. I still have some dtcs listed in the CSWM, but it says that it hasn't been tested since last clear, so hopefully they will go away soon. I'll check back in a few days. Regardless, did I mention everything works now!!!!!!

That's great news! Congratulations. That's one more in the books and more information to learn from. I still have no idea why mine worked before codes were added. Hopefully in time we will start to see a pattern. Also I gotta admit that heated wheel is nice when you get in your truck with ice cold hands!

My best guess is that it comes down to the CSWM version. The newer ones probably query the BCM to determine if an option is there and the older ones just assume. It's probably the same deal as the 16 radio not allowing USB in my truck.

I expect this to be exactly the same as my truck. As we seem to run into the same hurdles along the way in terms of function. Cant wait for monday to get my programmer! Well I can, but you get it.

The radio problem started with the 2015 radios. It's a module that was switched in 2014

Awesome now I just need to learn this AE tool. kind of late tonight to do any physical work but gona go hook it up and see if I can turn the compass, temp in the radio maybe get the cd player to work. RT if you are on can you give me some guidance on that.
