Thanks guys.
First I disconnected each battery at the negative lead. My new/used clock spring was not pinned when I received it. I was very careful to check revolutions and set it to center. I had the truck front axle set on jacks so I could move the steering wheel as needed to get the air bag in position to remove the 3 clips, then I set the wheels to straight, set the truck back on the ground to keep the wheels from turning. Then I removed the steering wheel and verified the stock clock spring centering by moving just the clock spring CCW/CW, put it back to center and pinned it. Then I did the same to the heated clock spring and then installed it. (I replaced the clock spring as an assembly and didn't take it apart, not like the youtube video) Unfortunately I don't have the backup camera installed yet so I can't verify with the camera lines the angle setting.
Today I'll take off the steering wheel, verify the heated clock spring centering and try again, if that fails I'll reinstall the factory clock spring and go from there.
Regarding the compass on the EVIC which corner does it normally show up in? My temperature is only in the top right. When I put in the dash the outside temp was in the top right corner, after setting the left two gauges I then scrolled through and set the other 3 corner settings. The last one I scrolled through was the top right setting of the outside temp, quite strange as Temperature was not one of the choices and I was so bummed I thought I had it and lost it. Not sure how but exiting that setting the temp returned on the display. (not gonna mess with that one again)
