Hey there y’all, I’ve got a question for the big brains here. I’ve done the seat/steering wheel swap in my 2018 tradesman 1500 (heated and cooled seats are in and power functions all work) but I’ve come across a weird issue. The inlinebody connector that I’m supposed to pin into for the heated steering is the HD one and not the 1500 one.

So at first I looked at pining into it as per the HD wiring specs..... no joy there as those locations already had something in them, so then I looked at going by the pinout(?) location number as per the 1500 diagram (yeah I know that would be unlikely to work but I’m desperate haha), anyways still no luck.

I’ve searched for wiring diagrams for hours to see where I should pin into but can’t find anything useful, hell I can’t find a single diagram all that’s relevant to 2018 models.

I’m hoping that someone here has come across this before or has a 2018 1500 specific wiring diagram on hand that they could snap a pic of or post a link to.

If my description is unclear I apologize, the brains a bit melted after reading and absorbing so much info about swapping things.

This is all I could get quickly and easily, I’ll take some better ones after work (about 10 hrs from now). The wires that I’ve got my finger behind correspond to the bottom row, as you can see #35 and #40 are both populated.

My one thought is that if I could confirm the wire colours I should be looking for that it would make sense to look at the other half of the connector with all the female pins...... in theory this makes sense to me but I’m a little leary of just plugging things in (I really don’t wanna fry something by accident)

Here's what I have for Driver's Side wiring. Looks like I have everything I need.

My connectors Drivers Side 20190915_101912.jpg

Passenger's Side looks like this.

I believe everything is in place for plug and play installation of heated/cooled seats as well as having the power functions working on both sides. Am I correct?

Yes you have all the wiring you will need for the seats to function. You will still have to change the clockspring and steering wheel if you want the heated wheel to work.

I don’t want this to offend any one. Can I ask a question why would you go through all the work and expense to add all there features to your truck , I see another forum to add power folding mirror to a trademan would it have been better to just buy a truck with all the options. Would it cost more in the long run .

For the options I've added to my Tradesman (see my signature), I've spent about $5K to do the upgrades myself but saved about $15K because I didn't buy a Big Horn package for example. I paid $32K for my 2018 Tradesman 2500 and the Big Horns/Laramie's go for $50K-$70K for the 2500's. Most of the upgrades are fairly easy and to me it's fun to do the work on your truck. :) I'm sure most people on here feel that way too.

Thanks. For me due to my father retired from dodge I was able to get a great deal also so to I have my was a company vehicle I am able to write off the sale price and I wouldn’t be able to write off the mods I bought a 18 1500 Laramie and it has so many bells and whistles I don’t have a lot of spare time to do these mods

Now I'm on this boat, I just got my 2019 Lone Star RAM 3500, it do not come with automatic climate control, and of course no steering and seat heating!

Hope it share the same wires!

If your truck is the Classic it should have the wiring. If it's the new body style I'm not sure if it will. If it's the Classic and you have these connectors on your drivers seat your good to go for the heated or heated/vented seats and heated wheel. If it's a classic adding the ATC is also easy to do if your truck has or you add the 8.4" UAS or UAQ radio. 001c8923a367290db6cfc34416a39456.jpg

StecoD and a few others have done it. My truck is a Quad Cab so I never did. You will need the correct heated seat module. You will need to add the wiring and the proper switch panel that connects to the back if the console plus install (Factory) seat heating pads and enable the rear heated seat code with the alfa tool.

Ahh so they are different modules? I was hoping since I had the front factory it might have been as easy as finding a Laramie/limited rear then maybe having someone swap my covers if possible. Might just be better to leave it as is. I'll send stecod a pm and see how their swap went.

Thanks.

Most Laramies with center consoles had rear heated seats. It was not available in trucks with Jump Seats or Quad Cabs. That will help you narrow down your search criteria.

I have a Tradesman because I bought a single cab truck. FCA doesn't offer higher trim levels on single cab trucks.
Want heated seats? Navigation? Leather seats? - buy a 4 door.

Some of those items could be ordered as factory installed options (I assume) but the dealers were offering $10k off MSRP (I got $12,500 off MSRP when I bought mine) and it would be stupid to order from the factory, wait for ages and pay full price.

I bought a single cab, 3500 4x4 Cummins with snowplow package, power windows, bedliner, 5th wheel prep, running boards and a bunch of other options for $41,500. It would have been stupid to do it any other way.
